Helping Our Ukrainian Friends group is thanked in the House of Commons

00:00Thank you very much Madam Deputy Speaker and may I thank the Foreign Secretary and members

00:03across the House for the very strong cross-party support for Ukraine that has been shown over

00:08recent years and no doubt will continue to be shown.

00:11On Saturday I had the privilege of attending an annual art exhibition run by an organisation

00:16called Helping Our Ukrainian Friends in North West Cambridgeshire and it's a small organisation

00:20from a number of rural villages but they have been able to raise over £300,000 in financial

00:25support for Ukraine as well as over 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid which they have delivered

00:30over the course of 20 trips.

00:32Will the Foreign Secretary join me in congratulating this group and thanking people across our

00:37country who have made personal efforts to support Ukraine?

00:39Well I am very pleased to have the opportunity to reply to the Honourable Gentleman because

00:46I was once the baby of the House, much thinner, much better looking, but I remember sitting

00:54in his place 25 years ago and he's absolutely right.

01:00The volunteer spirit across this country, Madam Deputy Speaker, has been extraordinary.

01:07People making so many missions to Ukraine, facing danger, going into Poland to support

01:14on the borders.

01:15It's quite incredible and of course I congratulate all those in his constituency for the work

01:20that they have done.
