00:00Every auction is different, but this was different in particular ways.

00:04It's a great experience. I think, you know, I didn't know what to expect.

00:08I thought I would have been more nervous.

00:16My name wasn't there and no one to bid for me.

00:19I was able to stay calm, but all in all it was a successful event.

00:24Great experience, you know, sitting next to Venky especially.

00:28We started planning while I was in Trinidad.

00:31And I think, you know, we come with a proper plan.

00:34A plan that, you know, there are certain players we want to target

00:37that will be able to facilitate the six players we retain.

00:42You know, and I think getting Venky was one of the main goals for us.

00:48As you can see, we went all out for him.

00:50And, you know, it's good that a championship winning team,

00:54you're able to get basically 90% of your players back.

00:58That in itself is a positive stat.

01:02I think the way the retention rules were set up,

01:05the RTM rules, the salary caps, and marquee sets,

01:12two-day auction, big auction, you know, definitely this was different.

01:15This was more demanding, I thought, you know, and quite nerve-wracking

01:19because of all these nuances to the whole thing.

01:24So it's important to keep your core,

01:26because when you have to start from scratch and build a team,

01:29combinations and all these things can be complicated.

01:34Roman Powell, obviously, because of our involvement with CPL,

01:39we have seen him for many years.

01:41And the year we picked him is when he had had a really good CPL.

01:45And then over the years we have seen him,

01:48what he has done in CPL and other leagues, and of course IPL as well.

01:52So, terrific cricketer.

01:55And just now highly experienced.

01:58Leads the West Indies, and you know, that leadership experience,

02:02captaincy, what he has done, all of that put together

02:06makes it really, really special.

02:08No doubt, it's great to have him in this squad.

02:13He's a speed star, Umran Malik.

02:16Siddharth guy, I always admire him.

02:19His pace, his work ethic, his energy.

02:21And I'm happy that we were able to nail him down.

02:25It's always encouraged by the fact that you had a format that succeeded.

02:30Not just because of the championship.

02:32Obviously, that was the icing on the cake.

02:35But that structure worked for us.

02:37So, I think the think tank's unanimous view was

02:41we should try and maintain that structure,

02:44which we have successfully done.

02:46I think in certain areas, I think we have also improved.

02:50And upgraded, if you can use that word.

02:53So, let's see.

02:54Hopefully, it will continue to work well in the 2025 season.

02:58And see where we go from there.
