01:32Tula is incredibly reluctant to put Lyla through the agony.

01:44Lyla's always wanted to know who her family is.

01:47She feels like a bit of an outsider.

01:49She's seen people come in to the sisterhood from these families and they know exactly who they are.

01:54When she finds out it's Rakela, it's the highest honour.

01:57But immediately a lot of responsibility is placed on her shoulders.

02:07Jen is very anti-establishment.

02:09She's very wary of someone telling her how it is.

02:12Emmaline and Jen butt heads a lot.

02:14They really come from opposing views of the world.

02:17Human life is sacred.

02:18There's no greater honour than to give it.

02:20Emmaline sees a lot of potential in Lyla.

02:23And through Lyla she might get access to Dorotea, Emmaline's icon.

02:28So she has a little bit of an agenda of her own.

02:31As Lyla has to decide whether to undergo the agony, we learn more about the relationship she has to Tula.

02:38I used to pretend you were my mother.

02:42Well I'll tell you a secret, so did I.

02:44Lyla really looks for solace in Tula and comfort.

02:49Lyla is told the only way to reunite with her mother is to go through the agony.

02:54And that's the piece that they use to make her take the big step towards it.

02:58For Lyla, the agony was so far into the future, so it's quite daunting.

03:02Chloe's an amazing actress.

03:04She wasn't afraid to go deep and touch the darkness of the emotions of the scene.

03:10She starts to think about, is this really going to be the end of my life?

03:13When she lies on that table and Tula is there.

03:17She knows that she's going to get through it.

03:21Dorotea throws her off track.

03:25In the second episode, Desmond is still kind of a mysterious presence.

03:29You made your feelings regarding Bert Richese and the wedding very clear.

03:33Desmond's way of political operation is he's going to tell the truth about everything he does.

03:38I did not tell you to kill that boy.

03:40But you wanted me to.

03:41The Emperor wants nothing to do with that because that could get him in great trouble.

03:44This is madness.

03:46Desmond Hart starts to feel like a fanatic to him.

03:52There's a lot of fireworks underneath the surface of Valia and Desmond's first meeting.

03:59I saw the corruption in her heart.

04:05She is enemy number one for Desmond.

04:08Valia knows that there is a power working behind him that she hasn't discovered yet.

04:24She sees Corrino as being almost involved in a kind of coercive relationship.

04:29There's a sense of intrigue for Natalia about Desmond.

04:32It's really about political expediency.

04:41He quickly learns that he has a weapon essentially in Desmond Hart that can be harnessed and used to Corrino's advantage.

04:48Corrino is slipping through our grasp and he needs to be reminded of our value.

04:53Power is very unevenly distributed and the Great Houses hold significant access to spice and to wealth.

05:01The Great Houses are forcing the people to turn to violence to get what they need to survive.

05:05Don't doubt for a second my allegiance to the cause.

05:08The rebels want to bring down the Emperor and distribute everything fairly.

05:12Inside the middle of that rebellion resides the sisterhood.

05:17We empower the Great Houses to maintain order and allow rebellion to keep that power in check.

05:23The sisterhood is like having the perfect person next to you playing chess with them.

05:27They can give you all the answers but you don't realize that they're the person you're playing chess against.

05:32When Desmond comes along he kind of like flips the board over. He's like, new game.

05:36House Corrino no longer requires your services.

05:39Valya assumes she will outmatch Desmond.

05:43Take out your blade. Drive it into your throat.

05:47Desmond is resistant to her power.

05:50I always wondered what your greatest fear would be. Now I have seen it.

05:55What is really driving Desmond is one of the central mysteries of the show.

05:59And something we'll have to explore as the series unfolds.
