From Bollywood sensation to yoga therapist: Anu Aggarwal

Back in the 90s, the Aashiqui actor gave up Bollywood fame to follow her spiritual calling. But what is Anu Aggarwal up to now?

00:21You know what I loved really about the role was the fact that the girl says,

00:26I want to stand on my feet.

00:28And that was, I thought that that was, you know, I wanted to like just stand on the rooftop and,

00:35you know, you know, blow it out and announce it to all the girls.

00:47Like I would take an auto to go swimming.

00:50And in the auto, all the autos would play Aashiqui songs and look in the mirror,

00:55looking at me behind.

01:12My first rule was that the script has to be ready.

01:15The second rule was I will not take all black.

01:18And the third thing was that the girl has to be a person, you know.

01:24So it's not going to be three songs and, you know,

01:27one or two tear jerking scenes, which is what it was for the girls at the time.

01:30So it has to be a character.

01:32You know, like walking on chappals and not having the Jimmy Choo heels.

01:57It was like a hunger in me to know myself.

02:00A hunger in me was just telling me that, hey, listen, money does not buy happiness.

02:06I was ready to do anything.

02:07I was ready to give up anything, everything, money, you know, become a renunciate,

02:13you know, live with two clothes and one bag and, you know, one chappals and no makeup.

02:48my body was still half paralyzed.

02:50I wasn't, I was gone.

02:52And again, I went back and shaved my head and took sannyas because,

02:58you know what the accident did?

03:00It actually pushed me further.

03:07For me, it was joyous.

03:09I was just like, I was away from the paparazzi.

03:13For me, it was freedom.

03:14I mean, even if it went like, you know, a dormitory, even if it went like, you know,

03:19it was like I could walk the hills.

03:22I could, I could hug trees.

03:23I could like, nobody was looking at me, you know.

03:27And I, for me, it was that silence, that quietness and that non-recognition,

03:35you know, for me, that was what the treat was.

03:57So that's what I want to share with people because that is the secret to finding your

04:11inner joy, to wellness, to success eventually.
