To censor or not to censor: OTTs

"Vulgarity, nudity, expletives should stop." Salman Khan believes OTT content requires censorship. Do you agree with him?

00:30You know, you've been a part of the industry for so many decades now.

00:40The last couple of years, obviously it's been tough for all of us in India, but, you know,

00:45in tough times you saw an excessive amount of negativity, trolling, and I think the Indian

00:50film industry has always been a little bit of a soft target.

00:53It's great to see that, you know, we bounced back, you know, with a bang.

00:59But in the meantime, you've also had platforms like OTT, etc., become the mainstay of the

01:06Indian public.

01:07What are your views on how the two will coexist?

01:09Because you obviously live it every day.

01:12Will one impact the other, or?

01:17I really don't know.

01:18I mean, when there was just the film industry, TV was not there.

01:22When TV came in, a lot of people from the film industry started getting a lot of work

01:27on television, and then the people who did not get work on television, now they started

01:32getting work on OTT.

01:35So there's a lot of work for actors.

01:37But OTT has suddenly started becoming cooler than television, which I don't think so.

01:43I mean, this is one lot of people.

01:45I think the first one to start this off was, I think, Ram Gopal Verma, one of the first

01:58few to do that kind of stuff on OTT.

02:01And then after that, people started watching, and I just think that I don't believe in that

02:05kind of content.

02:06I mean, I've been here since 1989, and I have never done any of this kind of stuff.

02:12So I just think that there should be a censor on OTT, and all this, you know, vulgarity,

02:18nudity, gali, kaloch, should, you know, stop, because...

02:33So I just think that the content should be checked on OTT, and...

02:42And I think viewership...

03:01So I just don't think that...

03:07I mean, for security reasons, we don't need to do that.

03:12But...

03:17Now people are doing a lot of good content and decent content.

03:28They get left out.

03:29So...

03:42So why not here?
