Row over Oppenheimer-Bhagavad Gita scene

"It's an attack on culture". Why Christopher Nolan's film "Oppenheimer" is making headlines in India for all the wrong reasons?

00:30You see Oppenheimer was a scientist and he is the father of atom bomb.

00:58He had drawn great inspiration from Gita. This film per se is a good film.

01:02It is good for us that you know the producer and director they are showing is to how he drew inspiration from Gita.

01:10But in that film they have inserted a shot, a scene which has no relation with reality.

01:18That scene is that he is having intercourse with his girlfriend.

01:24The girlfriend is showing him a book which is Gita of course because it is all about Gita.

01:28And he is reciting shlokas from that. So, this is an insult to Gita.

01:35Gita is a great granth, I would call it, which has the power, you know, which can lead the entire world.

01:46It has a message for the entire world not for just Hindu community. So, we mean the book in such a manner.

01:53So, it is an assault on our civilization values. It is an assault on Hindu community.

01:59And therefore we have written a very strong letter to the director Christopher Nolan

02:08that he should withdraw this scene from the film.

02:11Yeh iss se zyada creative freedom ka durpyug ho nahi sakta. Aur yeh ek tarike se hamari sanskriti pe hi prahar hai.

02:45jiska ek record hai, ek positive thinking ke andar, unko bhi extend karna chahiye.
