00:26It's a wonderful pleasure to see all of you here to join you on this very important launch

00:31of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 adopted by world leaders at the United

00:37Nations.

00:39Let me begin by recognizing and applauding the vision of the Honourable Prime Minister

00:45in establishing the Ministry of Cooperation, the first in India, and the leadership of

00:58the Honourable Minister in implementing that vision at unparalleled scale with the most

01:04advanced technologies.

01:07As we know, cooperatives are far more than economic entities.

01:13They, you, embody the core values of solidarity, collective responsibility that drives the

01:21social, cultural, and economic development of communities across the world.

01:27As a young boy spending time on my grandfather's farm in Kansas, I saw firsthand the central

01:34role that cooperatives played in driving rural prosperity.

01:39Globally, one in eight every single human being on this planet is a member of a cooperative,

01:48generating $2.4 trillion in economic value annually and proving that prosperity and social

01:57responsibility can go hand in hand and must.

02:03Standing here in India, a nation synonymous with cooperation, we see firsthand how powerful

02:11this movement is.

02:13India's cooperative sector has been central to rural transformation, empowering millions

02:20through initiatives like AMU, the largest dairy cooperative in the world, which makes,

02:27believe me, the most delicious products you have to try if you haven't already.

02:33And women-led self-help groups are leveraging India's world-class digital public infrastructure,

02:40helping many, many millions of women access microfinance, grow their businesses, strengthen

02:46their communities through women-led development.

02:50Colleagues, as the Secretary General emphasizes in his words by special video address to this

02:58gathering, cooperatives are simply vital to the success of the Sustainable Development

03:05Goals.

03:07And I can think of no better place and no important time to be having this launch than

03:13right here in India and right now.

03:20India has shown global leadership in putting cooperation, including South-South cooperation

03:26and the Sustainable Development Goals, at the center of international focus and as a

03:31strong voice for the global South, as we saw in the groundbreaking New Delhi Declaration

03:38of the G20 Presidency.

03:41And the theme of this conference, Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All, echoes India's commitment

03:48to the ancient values of Vasudeva Kutumbakom.

03:52The world is one family.

03:56In conclusion, when people come together, the world is a better place.

04:04We are all here to learn from each other the knowledge and experience of every single one

04:09of the hundred countries gathered here today is absolutely vital.

04:15And as we say here, saathe to sambhav hai.

04:20Together we can scale this amazing jaan-andolan across the world.
