00:00At 12.01am on November 1st, Mariah Carey officially declared it Mariah's season.

00:08So how did Christmas time become synonymous with a singer?

00:13Mariah Carey has once again taken to social media to declare the start of the Christmas season.

00:18All I Want For Christmas Is You is the lead single off of Mariah Carey's 1994 holiday album,

00:24Merry Christmas.

00:25And just last night after Mariah tweeted,

00:27the song re-entered the top 100 on iTunes in the US.

00:3125 years after its initial release, the song finally claimed the number one spot in December

00:352019. And since then, it's claimed the top spot for a total of eight times.

00:39It was the first holiday single to ever be certified Diamond by RIAA and has earned

00:44Mariah an estimated $72 million over its 28-year lifetime. The singer even tried to trademark

00:51Queen of Christmas earlier this year. And while no decision has been made in that yet,

00:56it's clear that she's trusted to be the unofficial declarer of Christmas time.
