00:06President Joe Biden is officially seeking re-election.

00:09In a video announcement, the president set himself clearly against right-wing extremism.

00:13The question we're facing is whether in the years ahead,

00:16we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer.

00:21I know what I want the answer to be, and I think you do too.

00:23Biden's announcement comes four years to the day that he made his 2020 presidential bid.

00:28It's unlikely that he will face any major Democratic challengers this time around,

00:31but the race could end with another showdown between Biden and former president Donald Trump,

00:35who launched his third presidential campaign in November after losing to Biden in 2020.

00:39Every generation of Americans has faced a moment when they have to defend democracy.

00:44Stand up for our personal freedom.

00:46Stand up for the right to vote and our civil rights.
