Don Lemon says he was fired from CNN after 17 years.

00:00CNN has parted ways with Don Lemon. The longtime host says he was informed by his agent that he
00:05was being terminated from his role. Quote, I am stunned, Lemon wrote on Twitter. After 17 years
00:10at CNN, I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.
00:14In their own statement, CNN CEO Chris Licht said, quote, Don will forever be a part of the CNN
00:19family and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and
00:23will be cheering him on in his future endeavors. CNN also denied Lemon's claim, saying he was
00:28offered an opportunity to meet with management, but instead released a statement on Twitter.
00:32Earlier this year, Lemon faced backlash after saying on air that 51-year-old Republican
00:37presidential candidate Nikki Haley was no longer in her, quote, prime. And earlier this month,
00:41Variety published allegations that he mistreated his female colleagues over the course of his
00:4617-year career at CNN. Lemon joined the network in 2006 as a correspondent and hosted Don Lemon
00:51Tonight for more than eight years. Most recently, he anchored CNN This Morning with Poppy Harlow
00:56and Caitlyn Collins.
