Payal Khandwala (@payalkhandwala) is the founder of her namesake fashion label which marries traditional Indian textiles with an international spirit. Ever since the brand's inception, @whatsappbusiness has helped them communicate more effectively, from connecting with vendors in remote areas of India to supporting international clients through personal consultations.

00:00I think it was important that we represent this sort of voice of a modern India.

00:06My name is Payal Khanwala. I make clothes and I think now that's what the company is known for.

00:13I couldn't find the clothes that ticked all the boxes for me. I wanted them to be luxurious and

00:18handmade, comfortable but still stylish and elegant and also versatile and I think that

00:23didn't exist. And I wanted them to be Indian in soul but like in spirit to also be international.

00:30WhatsApp launched at the same time as we launched the label. So we've been using it from the very

00:36beginning and it's the powerhouse of how we communicate. With clients I think WhatsApp

00:43really really does help us. We can help them you know if they want to drape something a certain

00:47way or they want to take measurements. A little bit of styling advice goes a long way. We couldn't

00:52run it without WhatsApp certainly not as efficiently. Living in India of course because it's a hotbed

00:58for textiles and we have these own age traditions of hand woven textiles here. That poetry of making

01:07a garment out of something someone made by hand each one is different. I'd like to continue

01:13dressing women all over the world and also offering the voice of a modern India

01:19in a small but sincere way but also in a way that's a little unpredictable.
