Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon. In Lancashire, a group of African refugees are using their
00:07
sewing skills that kept them going under the Taliban to now help poorly babies across the
00:12
county. In the following clip, Victoria Murek, Community Development Coordinator for Lancashire
00:19
County Council, explains a bit more. I work as a Community Development Coordinator for
00:25
Refugee Integration Team and part of my job to keep ladies from Vietnam busy. They are refugees
00:32
from Afghanistan and my task and my personal desire to help them to integrate to local community.
00:39
So that's why we have our weekly women's group where we can have colouring or sewing. I would
00:46
like they feel more involved, you know, and also more visible. That's why we try to arrange
00:52
different integration activities and involve them to help them to show their skills, talents. I'm
00:58
absolutely happy and like honoured to be part of this project because it is just like communities,
01:04
you know. They were refugees yesterday and today they have good impact and contribution to our
01:09
local community and they are also very like grateful and they would like to contribute
01:14
to do something good for other people. So and I think that's really absolutely amazing.
