A factory manager is feared to have drowned after slipping into Sungai Pengkalan at Taman
00:08
Persisiran Sungai Alor Gajah, Malacca, while attempting to answer nature's call.
00:14
Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Commander, Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent
00:20
Mohd Hamdan Sudin, said the incident occurred at around 5.40 am.
00:25
The 61-year-old man from Shah Alam had been in the area for a wedding and was staying
00:30
at a relative's house.
00:32
A caller had informed officers that the victim left the house alone to buy food at 1.50 am
00:38
but became uncontactable.
00:40
Concerned, his family searched several locations and eventually found his car parked near the
00:46
public toilet at the recreational park.
00:48
The locked toilet and the victim's belongings left in the car raised alarm.
00:52
Footage from the car's dashboard camera showed the victim pacing outside the toilet, which
00:57
was inaccessible due to its doors.
01:00
Further investigation led rescuers to discover a pair of slippers along the riverbank believed
01:06
to belong to the victim, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
01:11
Despite scouring the river and nearby recreational areas, no trace of the victim has been found.
01:18
The search effort has since been bolstered by a search dog unit.
01:22
The search operation is ongoing.
