UK weather outlook: Met Office warns of snow and ice as cold Arctic winds sweep across the nation

00:00The Met Office have issued warnings for snow and ice starting from the end of this weekend
00:05as arctic air spreads across the UK making it feel cold everywhere. So Saturday starts off
00:12bright and fine across much of the north of the UK but throughout the day it will be windy across
00:16the north of Scotland with showers that will turn wintry across the high ground of northern Scotland
00:21and to some low levels of the northern isles. Meanwhile across the central swathe of the UK
00:26it will be cloudy with showery rain and that will be moving its way southwards across England and
00:30Wales throughout the day ahead of it mostly fine and bright once any early mist and fog patch is
00:35clear. It will be a less cold day across the south of the UK but feeling cold across northern areas
00:39with temperatures up into single figures and into Saturday night it will be chilly and clear
00:44everywhere with a continuation of showers across the northeast of Scotland that will turn wintry
00:48and those showers will continue through Sunday across northeastern parts of Scotland.
00:52Then later in the day an area of rain will spread across northern Ireland,
00:56central southern Scotland and later northern England and as that rain hits colder air
01:00it's likely to turn to snow across the high ground to the north and east
01:04of this area of rain. Elsewhere fine and bright but it will be a widely cold day.
