00:00The president and his administration continue to roll the dice on the BAHRM experiment,

00:05knowing fully well the inestimable rewards in democracy and peace it could reap if all

00:11ends well.

00:13And the filing of COCs and CONCANS for the next year's parliamentary polls in the region

00:19have been well and successfully administered without a single incident of trouble, let

00:24alone acts of violence.

00:26Our Luisa Erispe tells us more.

00:30The Commission on Elections announced today that the COC and CONCAN filing has been successful

00:35for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao or BAHRM.

00:39This despite discussions in Congress that the first parliamentary elections in the region

00:44may possibly be suspended.

00:46Kamalak Chairman George Erwin Garcia said eight candidates have filed for regional political

00:51party and 109 for district representatives.

00:54Moreover, no untoward incident was reported from November 4 to 9.

00:59However, one may assume this is just the start of Kamalak's real preparations for the upcoming

01:25parliamentary elections, given how they will start finalizing the names of the candidates

01:30among those who filed their candidacies.

01:32The Kamalak said it is ready to receive petitions for Nuisan's candidates, but reminded each

01:38aspirant that as much as possible to maintain peace and order the best they can up to the

01:43day of the elections.

01:55The Kamalak vowed to finalize the names of the candidates for the BAHRM parliamentary

02:10elections along with the candidates for the national and local elections until the end

02:15of November.

02:16They foresee this as feasible and doable, especially with the declaration of roughly

02:2150 aspirants as Nuisan's candidates for the senatorial bid.

02:47Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections acknowledged and acceded the Supreme Court's decision to

02:53proclaim Alfredo Garbine as the new mayor of Legazpi, Albay.

02:58This is after former Albay Governor Noel Rosal's spouse was also disqualified by the Supreme

03:03Court for illegally using government funds during her campaign as mayor of Legazpi in

03:09the 2022 elections.

03:11Garbine was one of the candidates in the previous election who eventually obtained the second

03:16highest number of votes during the polls.
