My name is Inang Kalikasan.
00:16
In me, I almost cover the world with my power.
00:20
I can say that I have a good relationship with everyone I know, including humans.
00:33
But something has changed.
00:39
Despite the help and blessings, you still abused and punished the villagers.
00:50
But I will never lose hope.
01:20
My name is Inang Kalikasan.
01:36
I have been wandering for a long time.
01:41
Even before your people set foot on my land,
01:50
I was already here.
02:07
From my oceans, I gave you blessings.
02:15
Thousands of oceans.
02:21
Each one has its own abilities.
02:30
Each one has an important part to maintain the balance of life.
02:37
But you ignored the richness of the ocean.
02:57
You polluted and destroyed it.
02:59
Why did you destroy the blessings I gave you, my children?
03:15
How many more lives do you need to sacrifice?
03:18
Before you understand, you are slowly killing my ocean.
03:35
As a mother, I take care of all my animals.
03:40
My forest is my home.
03:53
It is home to millions of lives.
04:01
It gives color and life to the forest.
04:11
The benefits of humans from the forest are also great.
04:23
You can breathe fresh air.
04:26
That's why animals like birds, mosaics,
04:33
birds, and mosaics do not stop planting
04:38
so that the forest continues to thrive.
04:43
In the end, you will reap the fruits of its richness.
04:53
But despite the help and blessings,
04:57
you still abuse and punish the forest.
05:04
You are not good at cutting trees.
05:08
That's why many lives were lost.
05:15
And many were left behind.
05:19
The forests are now barren.
05:22
But you still don't realize
05:25
that the forest is running out.
05:28
But you still continue to hurt it.
05:34
Until when will we fight?
05:37
When will you protect me?
05:42
When will you choose your mother?
05:45
When will you choose your mother nature?
05:51
I am the ocean.
05:56
It is wide and deep.
06:05
I can almost wrap the world in my strength.
06:09
I can give you what you need to breathe.
06:15
To live.
06:25
There are many residents living here.
06:40
From the smallest
06:48
to the giant whale.
06:55
There are those who love and care for you.
07:03
Even my brothers and sisters
07:07
Even my brothers and sisters
07:11
to those who are like my mother.
07:19
Because you are a vast ocean.
07:28
This is where life begins.
07:31
Life.
07:35
Because this is the place where
07:38
eggs lay their eggs.
07:41
I am not just water.
07:47
I am also white and white as snow.
07:54
Thank you for your hard work.
08:02
They are the farmers of the ocean
08:06
that live peacefully.
08:14
As time goes by,
08:19
the calcium from the dead
08:23
and dead animals
08:26
will gradually rise and rise again.
08:32
This will be the mountain of limestone
08:36
that serves as a resting place for our birds.
08:41
The balance of life in the ocean is good.
08:47
But when I met the people,
08:52
a lot has changed.
09:02
The clear and clean water
09:06
has been replaced by blood.
09:11
The blood of the dead in the ocean.
09:27
The garbage looks like this now.
09:32
It's ruined.
09:37
There is no life anymore.
09:47
The brothers and sisters killed all their enemies.
09:51
But what hurts the most is that
09:53
they only took a small piece of it.
09:55
What happened?
09:56
Why?
10:00
When all my fish are gone,
10:04
all of you will be hungry.
10:08
I have a feeling now.
10:11
It's like I'm drowning in the heat of the moment.
10:22
This is the effect of a new climate.
10:27
But I will not lose hope.
10:33
I am the forest.
10:36
Quiet.
10:38
Peaceful.
10:40
And everything is balanced around me.
10:56
I live to take care of all the creatures that depend on me.
11:05
My proud trees provide shade,
11:11
food,
11:15
and clean water.
11:17
A mature tree can cool the heat of the moment.
11:27
I can say that I have a good relationship with all the creatures,
11:32
including humans.
11:35
But,
11:37
I am not alone.
11:39
I have a friend.
11:41
I have a family.
11:43
I have friends.
11:44
I have people.
11:46
But,
11:48
something has changed.
11:54
Trees were cut down.
11:58
Lands were ploughed.
12:03
Mountains and caves were built
12:06
to expand the land.
12:14
But,
12:24
my old green color
12:27
was replaced by a new one.
12:37
Even the animals
12:39
are united in a non-violent fight.
12:45
But,
12:48
instead of being free,
12:51
some of them are imprisoned and taken care of.
13:07
Who would be happy to tie you up in a chain
13:11
and put you in jail?
13:14
Hahaha!
13:18
Maybe you don't feel the loss of a tree.
13:28
But, it's a different story when thousands of trees and plants are gone.
13:38
I know that some of you are fighting to protect me.
13:42
I know that.
13:44
But, they are still small.
13:48
I need a bigger help.
13:52
My pride is a blessing to you.
13:56
In my fall, you are also affected.
14:01
But, don't forget that I have been living in this world for a long time.
14:07
I can live without people.
14:10
But you,
14:12
you need me.
14:15
Your future depends on me.
14:21
And, it depends on the action and decision that you will make.
14:31
But, I hope that my good relationship with you people will return.
14:39
The Philippines has almost been visited by Born to be Wild
14:44
to document different wildlife.
15:00
But, there are some provinces that we haven't reached yet.
15:07
And now, it's the 17th anniversary of Born to be Wild.
15:12
It's time for them to go away.
15:15
In our 17 years of documenting wildlife,
15:19
I still feel the adrenaline rush when I see critically endangered species.
15:28
It's like, maybe next week, they will be gone.
15:33
The 17 years of wildlife documentary is not a joke.
15:37
Yes, we have learned a lot.
15:39
We have discovered and visited a lot of places.
15:41
But, of course, we can't stop there.
15:45
Because, we can still discover and learn a lot if we choose to save the environment.
15:57
Our team's target for today is...
16:04
Basilan and Sulu.
16:07
When I was informed that my assignment is in Basilan,
16:10
mixed emotions.
16:12
Number one, excitement because we haven't been here yet.
16:15
It's worth it because we were all pleasantly surprised.
16:20
I've never been to Sulu.
16:23
I don't have any idea what happened after the war.
16:26
And, imagine the species of wildlife that has never been documented on film.
16:36
These animals are competing for food.
16:39
They're competing for their habitat.
16:41
They're not just fighting for no reason.
16:45
They're actually competing for their survival.
16:48
Our endangered wildlife species here in the Philippines,
16:51
they can't defend themselves.
16:54
That's why we're here.
16:56
So that we can be their voice.
16:59
We're joined by experts with their own specializations.
17:06
And, we've been with them since day one of Born to be Wild.
17:11
We hope that Born to be Wild will continue its mission to inform the public
17:17
about how important Philippine biodiversity is
17:19
and why it should be saved.
17:22
You actually go as far as those poorly known individuals
17:26
or those least important to look at
17:29
and also tackling those stories that hardly people would actually give attention to.
17:36
Born to be Wild is the only documentary I've seen in the Philippines
17:41
in terms of its storylines on wildlife.
17:44
So that people can be educated about wildlife.
17:48
For those of you who are the first people to hear
17:52
that we have this species of bird that eats fruits.
17:57
It's a new discovery.
17:59
I think that kind of information is very useful for us.
18:05
The information that you're disseminating
18:09
adds to our knowledge and helps our information campaign.
18:17
But for now,
18:19
it's not just the experts that we have with us
18:22
in giving their voices to Born to be Wild.
18:27
Because even residents and various government agencies
18:32
are seriously involved in protecting the environment.
18:39
What can help us protect the environment
18:42
is not throwing garbage everywhere.
18:44
We will collect it and throw it in the right place.
18:50
As a Muslim who lives in the province of Sulu
18:54
or in the Philippines,
18:56
in the Islamic point of view,
18:58
even if it's a small life or a big life,
19:00
whether it's a life of an animal or a life of a human,
19:03
we need to protect and take care of it.
19:05
The instance that we saw someone smoking there,
19:09
we talked to him and we reported it.
19:12
And then we said no to throwing garbage and cutting trees
19:16
because the lake will be destroyed.
19:23
My promise to nature is to continue to protect
19:29
and educate the Filipino people
19:32
so that I can continue to shoot in a protected area,
19:40
in a deep part of the sea,
19:43
so that the wildlife can understand.
19:46
Mother Nature, I choose you because you are so beautiful.
19:50
I promise Mother Nature that I will do my very best
19:54
in all my being to uplift and uphold
19:58
and take care of her for as long as I can.
20:01
Mother Nature, I choose you because you are the source of our life.
20:07
Because you are the only one.
20:09
If you are gone, we will be gone too.
20:13
We have been here for 17 years.
20:15
Thank you because you accompanied us to protect their lives.
20:20
There are still many risks in their lives.
20:22
Not all of them are over.
20:24
We still have a lot to do.
20:30
Hey!
20:34
Hey!
