00:00Hi, I'm Carly Cormanes. Hi, my name is Paulina Berrigan. My name is Celeste

00:04Arteaga. Hi, my name is Nathaniel Pocon. I am the writer and director. I am co-producer.

00:08I am one of the co-producers. I'm the director of photography for The

00:11Colorful Mind. Colorful Mind. Colorful Mind. The Colorful Mind of Jaseen Parker.

00:15So, this story is about Jaseen Parker, a 17 year old high schooler who, despite his

00:20clear talent for art, can't help but feel that he has nothing special and that he

00:23has nothing to offer the world. After being up late one night working on a

00:27beautiful portrait, he wakes up the next morning to find that it's missing and he

00:31can't find it. That is until he meets JD, who little does he know his portrait

00:35comes to life. So, I want to tell the story because I feel like I relate a lot

00:39to Jaseen's struggles, especially in how he tends to underestimate himself and the

00:44people around him a lot and that kind of gets in the way of him having the most

00:49colorful experiences, I guess, that he can. I was Jaseen high school and I know that

00:55there are plenty of people in high school right now or Jase's age who are

00:58going through the same problems. I feel like a lot of people, like not just me,

01:03but like a lot of other artists, kind of go through similar phases like that the

01:09same phases like Jase goes through and eventually they either become a JD or

01:12they are a JD and then become a Jase, you know, stuff like that. I want to tell the

01:17story because it conveys the importance of loving yourself and knowing that you

01:22are in fact worthy of love and, you know, that could be in relationships,

01:26friendships, or even your own self-love. And this film really shows the power art

01:31has in that discovery for a lot of artists, with art being a reflection of

01:35yourself, which I find at least to be a very powerful tool. I do art because it

01:40is the only way I feel like I could truly express myself in the most

01:45accurate way. Ever since I was a kid, I loved to write short stories and just

01:50read and write stories in general, which is what led up to my love of film. I

01:55think that I art because I have a harder time expressing myself in other ways and

02:00so it's a lot of fun to just release those things out of yourself and kind of

02:04see an objective view of how you feel, but it also helps relate to other people.

02:09I art because it's just a form of expression that I feel the most

02:14comfortable with and honestly it's probably something that will never leave

02:18me. It'll definitely be something that I just always go back to whenever I'm

02:22feeling down or feeling happy. I art because it allows me to be myself

02:26without any fear. I think this film is definitely one of the movies that I feel

02:34like anybody can relate to and so anybody can donate in that sense. We have

02:38an incredible talented team working and committed to this film already, so we're

02:42super excited and we feel that this film has a message that people really need to

02:46hear, especially right now. That message is that people are seen and they're

02:50appreciated and more importantly they are loved.
