Sunderland's Boxing Day Dip is back for 2024.

The Red Sky Foundation and Sunderland Lions are joining forces again after the success of last year's event.

00:00Jackie Robson from the Sunderland Lions. We teamed up with the Red Sky Foundation last

00:08year. How did it go?

00:09Absolutely amazing. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who wanted to take part

00:14and did. We used funds for causes that are dear to the heart and support Red Sky Foundation

00:19and Sunderland Lions.

00:21And how much is it to take part this year?

00:23It's £10 and you register online through the Red Sky link. And we kept the price at

00:30last year's price to encourage as many dippers as possible to take part. When dippers take

00:35part they will get a medal for taking part in the dip. They will also get a hot chocolate

00:41here at the stack and they're given the opportunity to do amazing things for causes that are dear

00:46to their heart and in the beautiful coastline of Sunderland, number one coastline in the

00:53UK.

00:55Red Sky Foundation founder Sergio Petrucci is here at the stack. Second time we've been

00:59based here. How important is it to have the support of local businesses?

01:02It's really really important because without their support we simply couldn't put the event

01:06on. There's a lot of infrastructure that goes around hosting the event as well but it's

01:10designed to encourage as many people to have so much fun in a safe way. But the best way

01:15to do that is to come down, support the people who are taking part in the dip. Last year

01:19we had thousands of people lining the promenade which was just phenomenal and we made the

01:23national news with it. It was one of the biggest dips in the country and we're hoping to improve

01:28on that this year by encouraging as many many people as possible to come down, support their

01:32own favourite charity as well. It's about reinvesting and putting money into great causes

01:38across the city and beyond as well. So if you want to take part and you want to support
