'We will engage in a peaceful transfer of power': Kamala Harris concedes 2024 US election to Donald Trump

00:09But we must accept the results of this election

00:13Earlier today. I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him

00:22that we will help him and his team with their transition and

00:26That we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power

00:37A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election we accept the results

00:45That principle as much as any other

00:48distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny and

00:54Anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it at the same time in

01:01our nation

01:03we owe

01:05Loyalty not to a president or a party but to the Constitution of the United States

01:17And loyalty to our conscience and to our God

01:22My allegiance to all three is why I am here to say

01:29While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign

01:43The fight

01:44the fight for freedom

01:47for opportunity

01:49for fairness and the dignity of all people a

01:53fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation

01:59the ideals that reflect America at our best

02:04That is a fight. I will never give up
