00:00Today, the Candle and Flower Festival was held in Tacloban.

00:04Its purpose is to show the love and respect for the survivors of the Super Typhoon Yolanda.

00:18Every Monday and Tuesday of November,

00:21the Filipinos celebrate and remember the loved ones who have passed away.

00:28The cemeteries are full of families who bring flowers and candles

00:33to remember and pay homage to the deceased relatives.

00:37One of the oldest traditions in the region

00:40is the belief that the souls of the dead travel to the world of the living.

00:46For the families of those who died when the Super Typhoon Yolanda hit Tacloban,

00:52they have a habit of gathering to plant flowers and make candles.

01:00In this way, they pay homage and pay homage to the relatives who have passed away 11 years ago.

01:10With the help of the local government of Tacloban,

01:13every year they gather at Plaza Rizal for a Candle and Flower Fair.

01:19All 20 participants in the Candle and Flower Fair are Super Typhoon Yolanda survivors.

01:26According to Ramil Morales, president of the Association of Fresh Flower Producers of Tacloban,

01:31aside from earning money,

01:33this is also their simple way to share memories with their loved ones.

01:39When it rains, all our flowers will be gone.

01:44For the Yolanda survivors, they will continue to hold the Candle and Flower Fair.

01:49According to tradition, the flowers bring joy

01:53and the candles give light to the souls as they travel to the world of the living.
