Halloween House

Alnwick Halloween House has been entertaining visitors with it's spooktacular display for charity.

00:00I started in 2018 with a few decorations just for my kids and I thought, oh people would

00:18like this and I put a book out on my steps and I managed to raise £300 for the local

00:24school and then after that more and more people were asking, oh are you going to add to your

00:28collection and then we did and just each year it's grown and grown to what it is now.

00:34Even as a kid in the 90s where you had the black bin liners and the stick on nails I

00:39always loved Halloween, loved Hocus Pocus and I don't know where that came from because

00:45my family wasn't that way at all but I loved it and always just wished I could be a Sanderson

00:50sister myself and when I had my kids and when they were just that bit older where it was

00:56an excuse for them when really it was for me.

00:59And I love the way it's progressed and how everybody else is just smiling with it as

01:03well.

01:04Just from what we can see so far, yeah it looks like it'll be a good one, yeah.

01:11We've got a few people in like where we live, they do a lot of effort, we find that Halloween's

01:17a bigger, sort of becoming a bigger thing these days and people are putting much more

01:21decoration up, yeah we do like to have a good look around and see what other people have

01:26done at least.

01:27A lot of the big stuff, the big 12 foot things they all come from America, obviously it's

01:32huge over there, I follow all the Facebook groups for over there and it's incredible

01:37some of their things and I wanted to bring a part of that to here and so we imported

01:42yes these big items over, the dog which is just beside me here actually came back in

01:49two suitcases from a recent trip to America and yeah so but a lot you can get here as

01:56well.

01:57Even in the five years that I've been doing this I can tell, I mean everywhere is doing

02:03Halloween things now and the kids love it but it's not just the kids, the adults love

02:07it as well.

02:08A lot of the time it's the adults that are coming here rather than the kids.

02:13Our neighbours immediately around us are very supportive of it because they know it goes

02:18to charity, you know we put a lot of effort in, a lot of work, it's just me and my husband

02:23that do it all and yeah so they appreciate it and lights off at 8 every night so it's

02:29not it's not into the night so everyone gets a good night's sleep.
