Shawn Mendes looks happy while heating up the Los Angeles autumn ... stepping out wearing a big smile on his face -- and, leaving his shirt at home.

00:03and clearly feeling very happy about his decision

00:10to speak out about his sexuality during his performance

00:12in Colorado over the weekend.

00:14So he's back in L.A. now,

00:16and got some photos and videos of him hanging out.

00:21This person is a friend of his who's in the band,

00:25they've gone on vacations together.

00:28They've written songs together.

00:29They've written songs together,

00:30and maybe this is them saying at the end of the,

00:32you know, hey, we had a great tour.

00:35But also, you know, he looks really happy and freed.

00:39Yeah.

00:41And then we got some images of him today in L.A.,

00:44and again, the guy just seems like

00:46there's a weight lifted off of his shoulders.

00:48Well, that's because he doesn't have a shirt.

00:49He doesn't have a shirt, I was about to say the same thing.

00:52And for some reason, he's feeling so good.

00:54He's out on the sidewalk recycling or something,

00:57which is interesting.

00:59Stomping on some cardboard boxes.

01:02and that was in the morning, but nonetheless.

01:21is that maybe this isn't theoretical.

01:25And again, we don't know.

01:27But look, what Shawn Mendes said was

01:29he doesn't know where he lands sexually,

01:32that he seems to at times be interested in men

01:35and at times be interested in women.

01:37That's what you get from both the song he wrote,

01:39The Mountain, and what he said at the Colorado concert.

01:42But it may be more than theoretical.

01:44Maybe that he is planning to,

01:47or is even in some kind of a relationship in some form

01:52and doesn't want to keep hiding.

01:54And we don't know.

01:55But it opens that door if he is.

01:58And seeing him out and happy in these photos,

02:00obviously when you are going through a time like this

02:03where he's obviously discovering himself

02:05and figuring out what his sexuality is

02:07and who he's into,

02:10but to see him out in these photos

02:11and seeing him happy is a good thing

02:14in the sense that maybe he feels a huge weight

02:18has been lifted off of his shoulders

02:19just from the little that he said

02:21at the concert the other night.

02:23I just want to underscore something.

02:25We talked about this yesterday,

02:26but I just think it's so important

02:28that there are a lot of people who come out now as LGBTQ

02:31and it's not a big deal anymore.

02:34And there's a lot of people who choose not to say it,

02:37but they just live their lives.

02:38That's right, they live their lives.

02:39What's unusual is coming out and saying, I don't know.

02:43And that's harder because it really opens you up

02:47and makes you vulnerable.

02:48And if somebody is that famous as Shawn Mendes

02:51and he wants to pursue that journey

02:54to figure out who he is,

02:56to have to do part of it in private

02:59and hide is really tough.

03:02And I think this is resonating

03:05with a lot of people in his position

03:07to know that this is a journey that others take

03:11as opposed to feeling really alone.

03:13But I just think what he did,

03:14honestly, is brave and incredibly useful to people.

03:36Earlier, you did say that he's very relieved

03:38and I know that feeling all too well.

03:40I'll be honest though,

03:42the whole situation kind of made me uneasy

03:43because I know the media has speculated

03:45about his sexuality for years.

03:47And I kind of feel like he was kind of guilted

03:49into submission to come out and address his sexuality.

03:51But look, at the end of the day,

03:53I feel like if he's gonna speak on living on his truth,

03:56I think that that's something that's important

03:59and something that he should do at his own terms.

04:02Maybe he's doing that right now, which is great.
