We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri people, and pay respects to elders past and present.
00:06
Their traditions of storytelling and knowledge sharing continue to inspire and enrich our school community.
00:17
Welcome to the first ever episode of the Grammar Grapevine.
00:20
I'm your host Chelsea, and this is your go-to podcast for staying updated,
00:25
meeting new faces, and hearing their stories from around the Hunter Valley Grammar School community.
00:31
Today, I'm joined by Flynn, who is actually our producer.
00:37
I'm stoked to be here. I'm the podcast producer, so normally I'll not be on the screen.
00:43
I'll be in the corner of the room, helping Chelsea run the interview from behind the scenes.
00:49
The first episode, we kind of wanted everyone to get to know the podcast, why we started it.
00:54
We're going to interview ourselves, like each other.
00:57
So we started the first ever HBGS podcast, which is a little bit random.
01:01
I know, it was quite random, it was.
01:02
Saturday morning after breakfast.
01:04
A winter Saturday morning after Parker.
01:06
A cool winter's day.
01:07
A crisp Saturday morning in the middle of winter in Maitland at the Whistler.
01:12
And we were sitting down.
01:14
And I said, I was just like, Flynn, you know what? We could make a really good podcast.
01:20
I said 100%.
01:21
Based off you and me as people, I think we have good personalities for a podcast.
01:26
Who wouldn't want to listen to my voice all day?
01:28
Exactly.
01:29
Put together a proposal to show Mr Robinson, the head of senior school.
01:34
And he absolutely loved our idea.
01:38
And he talked to Miss Butterworth, all of the important people who all were very supportive of our idea.
01:45
The teachers have been great, actually.
01:47
So we've found ourselves with so much support.
01:50
Everyone's offering their expertise.
01:53
As of recording, we've done half of season one.
01:57
It's going great.
01:58
We're really excited for you guys to listen.
02:00
We're really excited for you.
02:01
Because this is the first episode.
02:02
This is what people will hear.
02:04
We're just hooking to season two now.
02:05
I know.
02:06
We're ready to go for next year.
02:08
Okay, so basically term four will be season one.
02:11
And then every season we've got new guests, new topics.
02:15
We try to incorporate the whole school.
02:17
ELC, junior school, senior school.
02:19
Anyone who has a story to tell.
02:20
If anyone actually has anything exciting, please email.
02:24
Also any talented students to join the team with love.
02:27
To help behind the scenes.
02:28
Yeah.
02:29
So if you're interested and you see Chelsea or I around, come talk to us.
02:32
We don't bite.
02:33
Or shoot us an email.
02:35
And I guess the reason why we've done it.
02:38
Obviously just a fun idea we both had.
02:41
Also bring everyone together.
02:43
But yeah, I think connection is a really big theme.
02:46
I think like.
02:47
Of the podcast.
02:48
We want to build on the relationship between the senior school, the junior school, the ELC.
02:53
Just because I feel like having such a large school community.
02:57
We're so lucky.
02:58
And I think it's important we look after it.
03:00
Because like I said, not everyone gets that.
03:03
As the host of the Grammar O'Clock.
03:04
As the host.
03:05
Who is Chelsea?
03:06
I'm a Libra.
03:07
I'm 16 years old.
03:09
And I've been at Hunter Valley Grammar for.
03:11
This is my third year now.
03:13
So I came here in year eight.
03:14
I do aerobics for the school.
03:16
I've done netball for the school.
03:18
Flynn, as the producer.
03:21
What do you think are some things people should know about you?
03:24
We're both in year 10.
03:25
What star sign are you?
03:26
Oh, I'm a Cancer.
03:28
Thanks for asking.
03:29
Explains a lot.
03:30
I'm joking.
03:31
I thought Cancer like really lovely emotional people.
03:35
Says you're nurturing and loyal.
03:37
I have drama a lot behind the scenes.
03:39
As the backstage coordinator.
03:41
I do that for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Puffs.
03:44
Or slightly different roles.
03:46
But pretty similar.
03:47
How is it different?
03:48
With Puffs, it was just the creative team.
03:50
So it was like mainly props and costumes.
03:52
And it was a lot smaller.
03:53
And I was a lot more involved in actually doing the things.
03:56
And then with Iwanka, we had a huge team.
04:00
So I was kind of just helping out all of the team leaders from that.
04:04
And working in between them.
04:05
Which was me.
04:06
Yeah, Chelsea also was the head of hair and makeup this year.
04:10
How would you rate your experience?
04:12
I met a lot of people.
04:13
Drama people are so lovely.
04:15
Anyways, back to the star signs.
04:16
It says I'm extroverted.
04:19
Have lots of charm and persuasion.
04:21
Yeah, this is why you're the host.
04:24
Because of your charm.
04:25
Let's play two truths and a lie.
04:27
Oh, yes.
04:28
Okay, I'm going first.
04:29
I'm going first.
04:30
The first one is I got thrown off a horse in New Zealand.
04:34
Second one is I've been to eight countries.
04:37
And then the third one is my favourite colours.
04:43
So there's two.
04:44
Is pink and orange.
04:45
The lie is the middle one.
04:47
What was that?
04:48
You haven't been to eight countries.
04:49
How many have I been to?
04:50
I don't know.
04:51
Seven.
04:52
Oh, I'm going to lie.
04:54
I'm terrible at lying.
04:55
Okay, I've sat in the same golf buggy that Chris Hemsworth has sat in.
05:00
Number two, I rode the same horse as Billie Eilish has ridden.
05:05
I don't know if that's right.
05:07
Okay.
05:08
And my third one is I have been to England.
05:13
That's a lie.
05:15
Nope.
05:16
You got it wrong.
05:17
Well, what's the lie?
05:18
The lie is the middle one.
05:19
No, because we're at school camp and I know you rode the same horse as Billie.
05:24
No, it was Aiden.
05:25
Oh, rat bags.
05:27
I know.
05:28
I was sad I didn't get that horse back.
05:29
I was sad I didn't get that horse, but my horse was very pretty.
05:31
Oh.
05:32
So I wasn't that sad, actually.
05:33
Yeah, I loved horse riding at camp.
05:35
Oh, wasn't it great?
05:37
So good.
05:38
It really hurt.
05:39
Yeah, your butt.
05:40
It hurt your butt.
05:41
You're like, gosh.
05:46
Rat bags.
05:48
I have a quiz.
05:49
I'm going to quiz you on me.
05:50
Rapid fire.
05:51
What is my favorite leaf?
05:54
What?
05:57
Like when you eat.
05:58
Like a green leaf.
05:59
Oh, kale.
06:01
Spinach.
06:02
Spinach.
06:03
What's my lucky number?
06:04
Like my lucky slash favorite number.
06:07
It's definitely seven.
06:08
It's eight.
06:09
Close.
06:10
Oh, it's my life motto that I go by.
06:13
YOLO?
06:14
Everything happens for a reason.
06:16
Oh, yeah.
06:17
I believe in that wholeheartedly.
06:19
What do you think mine is?
06:21
I don't know.
06:22
Happens.
06:23
Happens to the best of us.
06:24
What?
06:25
You're right.
06:26
Okay.
06:27
That's fun.
06:28
If something bad happens, I'm like, happens.
06:29
Do you want to tell them how we met?
06:30
Oh, yes.
06:31
We met at a birthday party on the 13th.
06:33
We met at a 13th birthday party.
06:35
It was karaoke.
06:36
It was great.
06:37
A karaoke night.
06:38
But then you weren't at the school.
06:39
No, I wasn't.
06:40
You moved the next year.
