Veteran actor Annu Kapoor recently sparked controversy with his comments on ‘Chak De! India’, questioning the decision to depict Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Kabir Khan, as a Muslim coach leading a Hindu team. Kapoor claimed that the character, based on real-life coach Mir Ranjan Negi, was changed to highlight ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’, a term symbolising Hindu-Muslim unity, which he felt was used to shape a particular narrative in Indian cinema. Kapoor’s remarks arrived just after he alleged that Priyanka Chopra had refused a kissing scene with him in ‘7 Khoon Maaf’, and she wouldn’t have had any issues if he was a typical hero.
