Cloud increasing towards the west ahead of a slow moving frontal system, with light to moderate rain for the Outer Hebrides. Best of the sunshine in the east, particularly eastern England and sheltered spots of northern and eastern Scotland where it will be mild in a southerly airflow. 00:00Hi there, blue skies for some this afternoon but for many skies will look a little more

00:05like this as the cloud slowly builds towards the west ahead of this frontal system which

00:11is slowing down. It was a cold front but now a circulation is forming and that slows it

00:16down and turns the cold front into a warm front on this part as it pushes back west

00:21for a time as well. And along that area as the circulation develops the rain will turn

00:27heavy but actually it avoids most of the UK. Throughout the afternoon just some spells

00:32of mostly light to moderate rain for the Outer Hebrides for example, a few spots in the

00:36west where the cloud is thick enough but in the east that's where we see the best of

00:40the sunshine. Eastern England temperatures of 16 to 18 Celsius with a mild southerly

00:46airflow for many. 16, 17 also possible for some sheltered parts of northern Scotland

00:52as the air dries out and warms up over its passage across the hills. Into the evening

00:58and it slowly starts to turn wetter. Showers at first for the southwest and Wales turning

01:04to longer spells of rain and then Northern Ireland sees those spells of rain mostly after

01:09midnight. Some heavy rain at times can cause some issues in one or two spots by dawn but

01:15in the east it stays dry albeit increasingly gloomy as the cloud thickens and then lowers

01:21some hill fog and mist about first thing across central and eastern parts of the country.

01:25Some sunshine for eastern Scotland there but actually for many parts it's grey skies from

01:30the word go. Outbreaks of rain fizzling away across Northern Ireland and the rain tending

01:35to progress north-eastwards albeit slowly across Wales, the Midlands as well. Some heavy

01:41showers potentially in the southeast by the afternoon. Also some blustery showers as the

01:45wind picks up in the southwest and west Wales but with some brighter spells in between.

01:50Not quite as mild but still temperatures around the mid-teens for many. Some cloud

01:55breaks for western Scotland and increasingly so in the south as cloud and patchy rain moves

02:01its way northwards on Friday night. And by the start of Saturday that means there will

02:05be some mist and fog across central and southern parts of the country but it will clear through

02:10the morning. We'll still see some blustery showers in the far southwest but the main

02:15area of rain, well that returns to western Scotland again relatively slowly through the

02:22afternoon as well as parts of Northern Ireland. Some sunshine elsewhere so a fine day for

02:26many with highs of 14 or 15 Celsius and then further rain or showers into Sunday especially

02:33once again in the northwest.
