00:00Your Honor, what Attorney Allen said is preposterous.

00:11When he mentioned public safety, it's as if he has totally forgotten the physical structure

00:16of the accused.

00:17And the grant of bail being tantamount to setting a criminal free is a slip I may possibly

00:24expect from a new bar passer.

00:27A seasoned criminal lawyer should not loosely call an accused a criminal.

00:34The prosecution is clearly playing on fears and emotions, and supposes strong guilt of

00:39the accused is only anchored on the sole eyewitness testimony in which highly questionable.

00:49And most importantly, Attorney Lileth Matias deserves the chance to defend herself or should

00:55not be called or even referred to in passing as a criminal.

01:00Your Honor, let it be stated on the record, and for Attorney Ignacio's benefit, that nowhere

01:06in my previous statement did I ever call the accused a criminal, unless the word tantamount

01:11doesn't mean anything anymore.

01:21Your Honor, I understand the repercussions of non-appearance, resulting to a trial in

01:27absentia.

01:29Most importantly, I don't have a reason to flee nor hide, for I am confident that I can

01:34prove myself innocent before this court.

01:37I am more than determined to see this case through, so that I can start going after my

01:41mother's real killer.

01:47Yes, Attorney Allen?

01:49Although the accused claims that she has no intentions of fleeing, unfortunately, intentions

01:53alone is just not sufficient to ensure that she will not jump bail.

01:59In fact, it is the prosecution's duty to ensure that this community is protected, Your Honor,

02:04and in good conscience, we cannot allow to release someone who has already shown a potential

02:09for violence, Your Honor.

02:11I urge you to please consider the implications of granting bail and deny this claim.

02:17If only, if only that the court would send the message that the privilege of bail should

02:24only be reserved to those who truly deserve it.

02:47Having heard the oral arguments presented by both parties regarding the bail petition

03:08for the accused, Attorney Lillet Matias, I find it prudent to allow both parties to

03:16have more time to enable them to be able to present more witnesses to bolster their position.

03:31Clerk of Court, please schedule another hearing within two weeks' time.

03:39As you know, this is a system procedure, so the court will decide within 30 days from

03:49when we first convened.

03:53Until then, Attorney Lillet Matias remains in custody.
