Originally written by Redhead with Horns in 1973, the song “Egypt, Your Chains Are On” was recorded by Bob Marley in '74 and released in Northern Europe. It was a minor hit in the Netherlands, reaching number 23. As a favor to a mate, Redhead let his old drinking buddy Ronnie James Dio have a go at the song in the 1980s. Dio turned it into a big hit in the rock world in 1988. Jumping on the bandwagon, Redhead then re-recorded the song in the same heavy rock style as Dio's version, but it failed to chart, causing a rift between the two stars. Redhead always insisted that Marley's version was the best.
