00:00All right, so Lions kick the field goal.

00:04Minnesota gets the ball back with 15 seconds to go on their own 30.

00:11And the Lions defensively drop 10 and rush no one and have one guy standing there but

00:19not rushing.

00:22Like spying, making sure that Darnold can't, you know, pick up 10 yards just running without

00:27running the risk of being tackled inbounds.

00:31And I'm thinking, when I first saw it, I'm like, they're rushing no one.

00:35So the offensive line is standing there.

00:38And Darnold, I think instinctively, is like, I got all the time in the world here to receive

00:44it.

00:45Yeah.

00:46But you know what he didn't have?

00:47He didn't have all the time in the world.

00:48So while you're watching the play develop, yeah, what's going through in your mind?

00:53At first, I was like, my first thought was, why aren't they rushing anyone?

01:00And then I'm like, oh my God, Darnold's waiting for somebody to come.

01:04Like he's feeling no pressure from a pass rush.

01:08So he's standing back there.

01:11And I wonder if the Lions intentionally thought he's going to think he's got forever when

01:16all he has is 15 seconds.

01:19And it almost, and maybe kind of did, kill the clock.

01:23And I don't know how intentional it was to basically bait the quarterback into thinking

01:30he's got all the time because on the football field, in the play, he had all the time in

01:37the world.

01:38And I think that kicked in.

01:40Doug, it was pure savagery by Aaron Glent.

01:47I think it was a Jedi mind trick.

01:48It was brilliant.

01:50Because as the play's going on, I'm thinking to myself, because this never even crossed

01:54my mind, I'm thinking that, oh no, he's going to have plenty of time to set up and throw

01:59a deep pass and get the pass interference or whatever.

02:03But then as the seconds are ticking off, I'm like, wait a minute.

02:06And then he launches the pass over across the middle of the field.

02:09And only then did it dawn on me, they have no timeouts.

02:13He's going to get tackled in the middle of the field.

02:16They're going to run out of time.

02:17Yes.

02:18It was brilliant by Aaron Glent.

02:20So I don't know how intentional it was, like, we're not going to rush anybody.

02:25And he's going to stand back there patting the football as the game ticks away.

02:31And I'd never seen a team rush no one.

02:36And they, yes, there was one defensive lineman standing there, but have you ever seen a team

02:41rush no one?

02:42I don't think so.

02:46I mean, I feel like it's definitely happened where, you know, like one or two guys lined

02:50up and they're not really trying.

02:51I mean, they had, like you said, a Lee McNeil was there, but he knew I'm not busting through

02:55like three guys to get there.

02:57I'm just kind of here or six.

03:01So no, I don't really recall that, but it was brilliant by Aaron Glent.

03:04I believe it was intentional as well.

03:06Gator, make him think he's got all day because he does not have all day.

03:11But I think in football and like if you're just playing, if you're a quarterback and

03:15you're back there and there's nobody rushing, you're like, OK, I got time to wait, let somebody

03:20come open.

03:21But the last thing, the thing he didn't have was time.

03:23Yeah.

03:24And also with that being said, even if he wanted to get something off quick, dude, you've

03:27still got to, you know, there's still it's a zone defense.

03:30You still got to find the hole.

03:31It's not like, you know, there's everyone just standing there wide open.

03:34There's 10 guys covering.

03:36There were 10 guys covering five.

03:40So or four.

03:41I mean, it was it was potentially if that was their intent.

03:48It was brilliant.

03:49Then the next play, they get the bonus play, which feels like a rules loophole if you've

03:53ever seen one, dude.

03:55But they get the bonus play.

03:56And what do they do?

03:58They rush five.

03:59They don't just rush for they rush five on the next play and get home, get the sack.

04:04And I just feel like that was some some late game strategic brilliance by Aaron Glenn on

04:12both those plays to rush no one and then to rush five that I think both times, Minnesota,

04:19I think Minnesota took the bait on rushing no one and then wasn't prepared when they

04:24rushed five.

04:26It was great.

04:27It was brilliant.

04:28I thought it was such a plus, a check plus effort from Aaron Glenn and the defense in

04:34coming up with that just for those last plays.

04:36And yes, 100% agree.

04:37I mean, King sent the text out right away after that play that that's a loophole that

04:42course the Lions get exposed for the loophole.

04:45And it's something that should change because it makes no sense the way the rule is written.

04:50Teams running the clock it, hey, okay, they're set, but they're not in the right formation.

04:56There's a flag for that.

04:58And somehow all they do is get backed up five yards.

05:02It makes it doesn't make any sense.

05:04Wow.

05:05It should be a it should be a runoff.

05:06One would think, but it wasn't.

05:09I wonder if that rule is going to change in three, two, one, because according to Blandino,

05:14all you have to do is be set and by being set means just like standing still.

05:19And so all essentially you have to do is run the center and quarterback up there.

05:22Everyone don't move.

05:23Well, we'll spike it.

05:24It's an illegal formation.

05:25It's just an illegal formation.

05:28We'll take the five yards for the clock stopping.

05:31And did you hear what O'Connell was going to do had they not called that penalty?

05:36He was going to kick a field goal.

05:37He was going to kick a 68-yard field goal.

05:39But since they got moved back five, 73 was too much for him.

05:42Well, the crazy thing is, is Reichert, their kicker, he was Alabama's kicker last year.

05:48And one of the things I do every pregame is watch how good how far the kickers are good

05:51out to.

05:52And Reichert was booming them through it at the Rose Bowl from 60 with room to spare.

05:58And that was in the back of my mind because he's the kicker in Minnesota.

06:01And I'm like, perfect.

06:02I know that this guy has got a just an absolute cannon of a leg.

06:08And I'm not surprised that that was the plan, but didn't get to execute it.
