Binns, that Sunderland institution. It was this time of year, 32 years ago, that word
00:07
spread across Wearside that the last trading part of the Fawcett Street landmark was to
00:14
close for good. No one was surprised, but Wearsider still vented their emotions at the
00:21
start of November in 1992. One customer said, the place will just turn into a ghost town
00:29
while another told the echo, I thought it would happen, I've been coming here for years
00:34
and you can see fewer and fewer people in the cafeteria. One more said, to think we
00:41
had the old town hall and Binns store next to each other, now both are finished. Binns
00:48
shut for good in Sunderland in January 1993 and we want to know what you remember most
00:54
about it. Email chris.cordner at nationalworld.com
