In the stillness of a midnight forest two figures stumbled through darkened paths,

branches snagged at clothes, and eyes barely adjusted to the gloom.

Between the friends a growing unease festered.

You hear that? said one, darting to and fro. Hear what?

It's just the wind, replied the other dismissively.

But it wasn't the wind. It was a hushed symphony of whispers that seemed to slither

through the undergrowth, an ominous chorus that seemed to say, stay with us.

Despite the attempt to rationalise their fear, the forest filled with a sense of dread that

wrapped around them like a cold shroud. Wait, that shadow moved, cried one,

pointing unsteadily into the inky blackness. The other, unable to bear the mounting terror

any longer, suggested turning back. But the forest had other plans.

From the shadows a figure emerged, eyes burning with an otherworldly glow.
