00:00The Department of Health, or DOH, reports a rise in leptospirosis cases.

00:05774 new cases were recorded from September 8-21,

00:10higher than the 381 cases from the previous period.

00:14Most regions have seen increases with 509 reported deaths so far,

00:19which is 11% lower than last year.

00:22Total cases as of October 5 reached 5,835,

00:26a 16% increase from 2023.

00:29Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa advised people to avoid floodwaters

00:34and seek medical advice if exposure occurs even without symptoms.

00:38He emphasized the importance of wearing protective footwear

00:41and washing exposed skin to reduce infection risk.
