Purple sparrow

00:00Charlie was a cheerful and bubbly sparrow who lived in a garden full of life.

00:07He always came up with fun games, sang the best songs,

00:13and could make the grumpiest bird laugh.

00:17Charlie sometimes felt sad because he looked just like all the other sparrows,

00:24small, brown, and feathery.

00:27He wished to be more unique and stand out from the flock.

00:33He would look at the flowers that grew in the garden and be jealous of their red, pink, and yellow hues.

00:42His favorite was a purple thistle that attracted the most insects.

00:49Why am I brown? he often wondered.

00:53I wish my feathers could be a vibrant color, just like that thistle.

00:59One day, while he was feasting on delicious blueberries,

01:04he dropped one on the ground.

01:08As he hopped down to eat it, he accidentally squished it instead.

01:14Oh no! I squished my blueberry! Now my feet are all sticky and purple!

01:22As he looked at his purple feet, a crazy idea sparked.

01:28What if I take a few blueberries and crush them into water and make a purple bath to change my color?

01:37He waited until it rained a few days later, and a small puddle appeared in the garden.

01:45He gathered a dozen blueberries and squished them into the puddle.

01:50Soon, the water turned purple, just like his favorite flower.

01:56He hopped in and took a long, long bath,

02:01dipping every single one of his feathers until they were all purple.

02:07Now he was a purple sparrow!

02:11I did it! Charlie cheered.

02:14I'm now the most unique sparrow in the whole wide garden!

02:21Feeling proud, Charlie flew to his friends who were trying to build a seesaw out of branches and rocks.

02:30Hello, friends!

02:32He fluffed up his purple feathers and spun in a circle.

02:37Do you like my new look?

02:40Who are you?

02:42His friends asked.

02:44It's me, silly! It's Charlie!

02:48You're not Charlie. He's a brown sparrow. You are...

02:53We don't know what you are. Leave us alone!

02:57And they chased him away.

03:01Sad, Charlie flew to the nearest tree and sat on one of its branches.

03:07I don't need them, he said.

03:10I'll find new friends.

03:13He noticed three squirrels playing.

03:17Do you mind if I join you?

03:19He approached them politely.

03:22Mommy, there's a strange creature on the tree!

03:27The squirrels shouted and ran away.

03:31The shouting awoke the oak tree,

03:34who opened its eyes and looked at the weird purple thing standing on its branches.

03:41Shoo! Shoo!

03:44It rustled its branches to chase away the funny-looking creature.

03:50Charlie didn't know where to go as every tree chased him away,

03:56so he landed on a bench.

03:58He closed his eyes to take a nap.

04:02But a buzzing sound awoke him.

04:05He saw a swarm of bees, flies, butterflies and gnats

04:10flying around him as if they were attracted by something.

04:15Some buzzed their wings in his face and others tried to land on him.

04:20It took a moment, but Charlie soon realized what was going on.

04:26They think I'm a flower! They're attracted by my bright purple color!

04:32Get away from me! I'm not a flower! I'm a purple sparrow!

04:37He shouted, but the insects kept on buzzing.

04:42Annoyed, Charlie flew away from the bugs and

05:11But he wasn't alone.

05:13A brown frog hopped out, startled at him.

05:18The frog wasn't like any other frog he had seen before.

05:23It wore a wig made out of moss, decorated with pink and purple flowers.

05:28What a funny looking frog, Charlie accidentally said out loud.

05:35I could say the same about you, the frog replied.

05:41What do you mean? Charlie asked.

05:45You're a purple sparrow. Isn't that funny?

05:50Charlie saw his reflection in a puddle and laughed.

05:55I look hilarious. I don't need purple feathers.

06:00My uniqueness is making jokes, inventing games, and singing joyful songs.

06:07Soon it started to rain, and Charlie stepped out from under the bush feeling more confident than ever.

06:16The rain washed all the purple away, and the brown sparrow everyone loved reappeared.

06:23With his brown feathers back, he returned to his friends.

06:28They immediately recognized him and chirped with joy.

06:33Charlie never doubted his uniqueness again, because now he knew real uniqueness comes from within.
