Life in colour: Never too old to wear pink

Kitten was told she was too old to wear pink and too old to be on the cover of Vogue magazine. Yet she proved everyone wrong.

00:09People also call me the Pink Lady of Hollywood.

00:13I'm also the pinkest person in the world, officially.

00:17They also call me the Queen of Pink.

00:22So I began wearing pink in 1980.

00:25It was my birthday, and I just had on pink from head to toe, and I just knew that day

00:29that my life would be all pink, all the time.

00:33So everything I buy, I spend over a million dollars on my pink life.

00:37Oh, easily.

00:38I love LA.

00:57I came out here to Hollywood with a backpack and a dream in my pocket, and I just said,

01:03you know what?

01:04This is the city for me, because dreams are made.

01:15I get so many people coming up saying, oh my God, you just made me so happy.

01:20I love seeing you every day.

01:21Can I get a picture with you?

01:23A few bad reactions, but you can't please everybody, so you've got to please yourself.

01:29Somebody said I was too old to wear pink, and I don't think there's actually an age

01:35limit on any color, and there's no gender.

01:38So pink is for men, women, boys, girls.

01:43I just did a music video called Pink Universe, and it is about my pink life.

01:50It's sort of a bio, a song about my life.

01:54Like I say, when I was growing up, my family thought I was a pink face, but it's been going

01:58on now for 14,600 days.

02:11I said my dream was to be in Vogue magazine, a makeup artist said, you're too old to be

02:16in Vogue.

02:18Well, that hurt me, and I didn't say a word, I just sat there and I thought, hmm, watch

02:22me.

02:23Well, guess who made the cover of Vogue?

02:28Not just the inside, baby, the cover.
