00:00It reminds me of when my Roughneck Ting and Full Cycle were doing their things on the

00:14And yeah, with Dubload and all that, I don't know, it just kind of appeals to the Bristol

00:19sound really.

00:20Bristol's got a history of kind of sound system culture, and reggae culture's a big thing

00:24over here, so, you know, it almost seems like a logical step for Dubstep to infiltrate the

00:29local sounds.

00:30Bristol has always been like kind of open-minded when it comes to music, and like, drum and

00:34bass has been running things here for years and years and years, so I'm thinking maybe

00:38people might be trying to find an alternative to that, and they're coming to these raves

00:41and they're hearing the music, and it's just like, it's hard not to like it.

00:55I love the vibe in Bristol.

00:56Bristol's wicked, bro.

00:57Bristol's, like, probably the best place in the UK for Dubstep, mate.

01:01Bristol and London have got a lot of similarities when it comes to the kind of things that work

01:06there, and, you know, for me, Dubstep was just made for Bristol.

01:10You know, there's people who like the frequencies, you know, they just want to get mashed by

01:14a fucking loud sound, you know?

01:16Because it's not like a cattle market club where you've got people coming and getting

01:20wankered and falling over and making arseholes, it's mainly people who are soundheads, you

01:25know, who come from music.

01:49Bass-driven, dub-influenced, mutation of garage, really.

01:53It's so fresh at the moment, I mean, I've been sort of following it for maybe a couple

01:56of years, two or three years, something like that, and it's already grown so much, and

01:58like, it's sort of garage beginnings into, you know, a vast spectrum of people doing

02:02different things.

02:03You know, some people write with a slight techno vibe, or a drum and bass vibe, or,

02:06you know, all sorts of different flavours.

02:08It's all about drawing the angles, drawing different angles from different kinds of music,

02:11you know what I mean?

02:12Like, jungle, old school garage, like, breakbeat, drum and bass, whatever you have, you know

02:16what I mean?

02:17Techno, bring it all in, put it in there, see what happens, you know what I mean?

02:20That's what it's all about.

02:21Do you know what?

02:22Bristol is like the second home of Dubstep right about now, yeah?

02:25Everyone's in it.

02:26Leads bubbling, like, Bristol is pumping.

02:28Old-time pinch shrub, because he's pushing it hard down there, yeah?

02:31I think it's fantastic, I think it's amazingly strong, and I think most of us who like it

02:35and contribute to the scene are very proud of the fact that Bristol is the second city,

02:39is Dubstep the second city.

02:41A real sense of community among, like, fellow producers and everything, and it's, I don't

02:46know, it's just a nice vibe.

02:48Bristol's a very exciting place to be at the moment, you know, the scene's really kicking

02:52off down here.

02:55You don't hear this music on the town, you don't hear it on the radio, you don't hear

02:59it hammered on adverts, and because of that, it is, it sounds different, it sounds special,

03:04it sounds fresh.

03:05It's a little bit slower, the rhythms are all different, you can do more interesting

03:08things when you're mixing it, you know?

03:10There's like, there's so many different styles and different options when you pick up a record

03:13that you can do a lot more in the mix rather than just, like, lay down another thing.

03:17I think it's something that's going to just explode, it's not like when Garage came on

03:21onto the scene and suddenly went commercial and all of a sudden, you know, there's all

03:25these tunes in the charts and what have you.

03:27You ain't seen no Dubstep on top of the pop, so radio, like radio and daytime, man, there

03:32ain't going to be no, like, 50 Cent Dubstep remixes, man.

03:35I play Grime, but I actually prefer Raven to Dubstep, that's straight.
