00:08the Butterworth Sessions Court on Monday with physical sexual assault on a 13-year-old boy

00:13two years ago.

00:15Twenty-four-year-old Mohamed Mictam Mohamed Amir pleaded not guilty to the charge before

00:20Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah.

00:22He was accused of touching the victim's private part for sexual purposes at Rumah Jagan Harapan

00:27al-Mahabba in Nibongtebal at midnight on July 11, 2022.

00:33The charge was framed under Section 14A of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,

00:40read together with Section 16, Subsection 1 of the same law, which provides a prison

00:45sentence of not more than 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

00:50During mitigation, lawyer Nakia Zulkarnain from the National Legal Aid Foundation representing

00:56the accused requested a lower bail, citing the accused's unstable income and responsibility

01:02for his ill father.

01:04The court allowed bail at RM5,000 with one surety and also ordered the accused to report

01:09himself at a police station once a month and not to intimidate the victim.

01:15November 14 was fixed for mention and submission of documents.
