00:50Like our celebration and like our gathering.

00:57For us, it's a long term, we've been doing the Christmas celebration since I was a little

01:05child actually.

01:06Yeah, it's the Feast of the Seven Fishes and when his mom died because she did everything,

01:14we took it over because we wanted to continue that tradition, even though I'm Irish, but

01:20I felt it's important as far as family to continue that.

01:25One of the things that stands out the most in my mind, I was probably seven years old,

01:30maybe six, and my mom and my Aunt Celia were in the kitchen and we were on Grand Street

01:39and they were frying all the fish and I just watched everything.

01:44I didn't dare touch a thing.

01:47Well, I think for us now, it's a lot easier.

01:55We're better equipped to handle it than my parents were.

02:00They used to take two of my aunts and my mother and everybody to do it because it was just

02:06such a large celebration.

02:09Yeah, but they had to use frying pans on top of a stove.

02:16What is your favorite part of Christmas Eve?

02:21Mine is the cooking.

02:23I really enjoy frying the fish because usually, for years, he was always helping me, now my

02:32son does it.

02:33You know, you're talking and you're just going over your life together and it's great.

02:39My favorite part is just when everybody gets here.

02:42I can still picture it in my mind with a big kitchen table and then sitting down and eating.

02:50But that was a long time ago.

02:52Now my memories are, as Papa said, when we all come together.

03:00We all get here and, I mean, everybody's hungry and you're talking to everybody and you're

03:06having a drink and that's the best part to me.

03:10There were years where we had 30 people out here, 25 to 30 people.
