Hurricane Milton makes landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm

The storm is bringing deadly storm surges to much of Florida’s Gulf Coast, including densely populated areas such as Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Fort Myers.

00:07life-threatening storm surges, flooding, rainfall and extreme winds.

00:14Gusts travelling as fast as 100 miles per hour have been reported in the Tampa Bay area,

00:20and flash flood warnings have been issued for nearly 2 million people in Tampa, St.

00:25Petersburg and Clearwater.

00:28More than a million people have currently lost power and outages are expected to increase

00:34as Milton moves across the state.

00:38Shelters have been set up across the state for those who have had to evacuate their homes,

00:43and Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis has warned people to stay inside.

00:50Stay inside and stay off the roads. Floodwaters and rushing storm surge are very dangerous.

00:56Stay put until the storm has passed. If you are in Sarasota, Manatee, some of those areas

01:01where the eye of the storm is going, it may be where things calm down for a minute. Just

01:06understand that means you're in the eye, it's going to go back and get really nasty very

01:10soon, so don't go outdoors until it is confirmed safe.

01:14Search and rescue operations also continue after multiple tornadoes tore across Florida

01:20ahead of Milton's approach, destroying around 125 homes.
