Chancellor Rachel Reeves has confirmed that from April, hundreds of primary school children across the nation, will receive free breakfasts. The plan, which is estimated to cost around £365million per year, is expected to save some parents more than £400 every year.

00:24The rollout is set to see school breakfast clubs run before school, where pupils can
00:29eat a healthy breakfast.
00:31The free breakfast clubs are set to be rolled out into 750 primary schools across England
00:37in the summer term as part of a £7 million pilot.
00:40The Department of Education then hopes to see the scheme rolled out on a nationwide
00:45basis by September 2025.
00:47The department is yet to reveal the first list of schools, but said that they will be
00:52picking the first locations in the coming months.
00:54At the moment, all primary school children in London and Wales receive free school meals.
00:59And that state schools in England are entitled to free school lunches from reception up to
01:03year two.
