00:00I just got to a point in my life where I was like,

00:02I don't care what anybody thinks anymore.

00:04I have my own beliefs and my own thoughts,

00:06and I'm gonna do whatever I want,

00:08and no one's gonna tell me what to do anymore,

00:09and I don't care.

00:11I'm Kyle Richards,

00:31and I'm Us Weekly's Reality Star of the Year.

00:33Ultimately, I do think that people appreciate

00:35that I am my authentic self,

00:37even if sometimes I upset people with my opinions

00:41or actions sometimes, but at least at the end of the day,

00:43I know that I'm being myself.

00:46And also, in an odd way,

00:49and it took me a long time to get to this place,

00:51but it's been therapeutic for me.

00:55I was raised to not talk about certain things

00:58and not share certain things,

01:00so I definitely came into the show with that mentality

01:04because that's how I was raised,

01:05but as time's gone on,

01:07I'm more comfortable talking about everything

01:10and exposing the parts of me

01:12that maybe people didn't know about

01:15or maybe not agree with,

01:18but it's been therapeutic for me

01:21because when you're raised that way,

01:23to just sort of set free and say,

01:24I don't care, I'm gonna show everything about me,

01:28I think that's very freeing.

01:30I've shown a lot of my life over these years,

01:32so I don't think you get named Reality Star of the Year

01:36without going through a lot of S-H-I-T over those years.

01:42Well, I almost didn't come back

01:44because it's a long time to be on the show.

01:46And last year was,

01:50these last two years have been the most difficult of my life

01:53and I didn't want to put myself through the scrutiny.

01:59I had been followed with cameras

02:02and having the woman kind of grilling me

02:05and I didn't feel supported by a lot of the cast

02:08and the public scrutiny and the tabloids

02:11and the paparazzi following the stories,

02:15it really was weighing on me heavily

02:17and I just felt like I just kind of

02:20wanted to disappear for a little while.

02:22So why did I end up coming back?

02:26We do have a lot of fun times on the show too

02:29and I love the crew.

02:31The cast has changed over the years,

02:33but our crew really has stayed the same

02:36and the producers that we make the show with,

02:37they're family to me at this point.

02:39So I knew that would be another loss for me

02:42even though it was difficult for me,

02:45I knew that would be another loss.

02:46And my husband was just about to move out

02:50and I was like, I don't know if this is the best time

02:53to walk away from that too.

02:56Well, we love each other.

02:58So that part is easy.

03:01What's not easy is just figuring out all of it.

03:07What's next in our relationship, marriage,

03:12I don't even know what to call it right now

03:13because he doesn't live here.

03:14But I think also it was difficult on the show

03:17because people wanted answers from me

03:20and they felt that they were owed the answers,

03:23the public, and I didn't have the answers myself

03:26and people thought I was withholding stuff.

03:28I mean, I'm still here and we're not divorced.

03:34He doesn't live here.

03:35So obviously we're still figuring things out.

03:39But that part was very difficult.

03:42And I kept saying, I just need time, guys.

03:46I'm trying to figure it out myself.

03:48I was in therapy and working through myself

03:51with losing my best friend and my marriage

03:53and I was grateful that Kathy and I were good again

03:57and having my family helped me a lot

03:59through a difficult time.

04:01I don't know what the future holds right now

04:03with Mauricio and me.

04:05I mean, obviously he hasn't lived here for quite a while now

04:09but what I do know is that we will always have love

04:12and respect for each other regardless.

04:14And I'm very confident in that.

04:17A lot of people say to me, you have to be careful.

04:19Oh my gosh, you gotta watch your back.

04:22And I always say, you don't know our relationship.

04:25You don't know what our marriage was.

04:28You don't know our relationship now.

04:29And we are very good friends.

04:32And our priority is always keeping our family together.

04:35Still, it was then and it is now.

04:37What do I want for the future going forward?

04:40I want to just be at peace

04:44and focus on my daughters and my work projects

04:49that I'm really diving in deep to now

04:53in producing television

04:55because that gives me an outlet

04:57and I really do feel like

04:58that's another form of therapy for me.

05:00So I'm focusing on all of those things

05:02and the end goal is just to be happy and at peace.
