Milton expected the explode into a major hurricane before making landfall

Flooding, rainfall, wind and life-threatening storm surge is on its way to Florida, as Milton is expected to make landfall this week.

00:00Here's the latest update on Hurricane Milton still continuing across the Gulf of Mexico and so much

00:05deep warm water out here it is going to cause Milton to explosively and dangerously intensify

00:10into a major category three hurricane as it makes landfall. It looks like Wednesday afternoon

00:15between Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota there on the west coast of Florida. As far as the overall

00:21impacts we're tracking central Florida that is where we're going to see flooding rainfall,

00:25dangerous wind gusts and even life-threatening storm surge here for some areas especially

00:31this area right here highlighted in red. This goes as far north as Palm Harbor as far south

00:36as Gulfgate Estates and as far inland as both Brandon and Riverview. This is where we are going

00:41to see deadly conditions as we head into early to middle parts of next week. Wednesday is looking

00:46like when it's going to make is whenever this is going Milton is going to come on shore that's

00:52what we're tracking for that. As far as the overall rainfall totals take a look at this

00:55this darkest shade of green this is where it looks like we could see every bit of 8 inches to 12

01:00inches a foot of total rainfall and even our Accu of the local storm max of 30 inches of total

01:06rainfall for some areas 30 inches is what parts of Carolina got during Helene and we've seen what

01:11that kind of devastation can be caused by that type of flooding that's what we're expecting here

01:16for central parts of Florida possible. In addition to that look at these winds we could see winds

01:21whenever Milton comes on shore makes landfall over in excess of 150 miles an hour dangerous

01:28winds. Winds this strong are going to do everything they're going to knock down trees

01:32power lines even knock down structures and homes here as Milton comes on shore and because of that

01:37we are going to see widespread widespread power outages across central parts of Florida

01:43that could take weeks if not months to fully repair and recover from.
