00:08Anybody who tells you that they were there in the 70s

00:11and remembers it wasn't there.

00:12You were in the middle of a group of the most beautiful men

00:16you'd ever seen.

00:18Most of the guys were shirtless.

00:20You felt like you belonged,

00:21a kind of alternative reality.

00:24Everybody just rockin' Hollywood!

00:27WAC was really my entrance into life.

00:29I was wide-eyed.

00:31It was Hollywood.

00:32Opening night, you had 1,500 people,

00:34and the turntable would jump.

00:37I said to Scott,

00:38call RCA, get someone down here to fix that damn turntable.

00:42It was not uncommon to put whatever cocaine they had

00:45and we would just take from the pile as it went along

00:48and went back to serving drugs.

00:58and I see Cary Grant walk through the doors.

01:03I remember seeing Betty Davis.

01:05To see Rock Hudson, I thought, wow!

01:07The whole place was packed with celebrities.

01:09And all that jazz!

01:11Knowing that Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire

01:14and all of these great stars

01:16were coming through this dance hall,

01:18I thought the worlds were combining.

01:20The fact that they made the decision to bring me with them

01:24the night of the fundraiser,

01:25if something's going to happen

01:26and the place is going to get blown up,

01:28at least we're all there together.

01:31He's gone, he's gone, he's gone.

01:33That so-and-so, he's gone.

01:34It's just shocking.

01:36Like, within a week,

01:37if you went on vacation and you took a trip,

01:39you'd come back to find out who had died.

01:41Not only did you lose people who were, um, not...

01:47I've got to stop.

01:49It's so horrible, you know?

01:51So there's a proposal now to actually tear the building down.

01:54West Hollywood lost 10,000 people

01:57and their spirits are still here

01:59because this was the place where they were happiest.
