00:00Alright, the Calgary Flames are creeping closer and closer to the start of their season.

00:16And it is, like, there have been a few things where it's like, okay, hey, maybe this guy

00:20will, uh, you know what?

00:21No, not really.

00:22That's not gonna...

00:23Okay, well, maybe it's this guy.

00:24Okay, no, no, no, not, not the way to go.

00:27And now, the one thing that has surprised me is some of the talk around Jacob Pelletier,

00:35where it's like, alright, well, can you waive him?

00:37Can you whatever?

00:38Well, he's not having a great preseason.

00:40And I... this is where the preseason can get so very frustrating.

00:45Because the thought of waiving Jacob Pelletier...

00:49I don't think should even enter the Calgary Flames' minds.

00:53I think that would be just the height of overreaction to some stuff with him.

01:01And so, to possibly lose him on waivers, I just, I can't.

01:06I can't.

01:07I don't think the Flames should, either.

01:10And so, yes, like, no, the preseason has not gone well for him.

01:13But I do still think that this is a kid who has a real upside, and can play a style of

01:18hockey that can benefit your team for a really long time.

01:21He does need to start showing it at the NHL level.

01:24And he does need to start proving it a little bit more, and a little bit more, and a little

01:27bit more.

01:28But, he has also had injuries really hinder his career.

01:31And it is a very difficult spot.

01:33Because if there was no waivers, you would just send him back to the American Hockey

01:36League so fast, and let him start to work some of these things through.

01:41But you can't with him.

01:42Or else someone will claim him.

01:43And I, I don't think there is any debate someone would claim him.

01:49When you look at the resume, and the pedigree, and all of those things, I don't think from

01:55a Calgary Flames standpoint you can afford to risk losing this kid on waivers.

02:01Like this is, if another team, if the Vancouver Canucks version of Jacob Pelletier popped

02:09up on waivers, every Flames chat everywhere would be saying, this is the type of guy the

02:15Flames should be going after.

02:16First round pick, didn't get his opportunities because he was banged up, and a couple of

02:20other guys kind of leapfrogged him, but now we have a shot to give him a little bit of

02:24room.

02:25And we've talked before about how kind of jammed up the forward group is with the Flames,

02:28and so you do have to kind of maneuver his way in.

02:32But I think this is one that you have to maneuver.

02:35We've talked about Coronado, I don't think you have to pass him through waivers, I'm

02:40pretty sure on that.

02:41So I think more seasoning for him, fine.

02:44For Pelletier, I do think that there is a middle six forward there.

02:48If he has to start the year on the fourth line, then he starts the year on the fourth

02:51line.

02:52I would rather that than lose him.

02:53So some of those conversations have been really surprising.

02:56On the Cooley one, I do think that everyone gets a little bit like, oh man, how could

02:59you, you might lose this, he's a goalie, he's on waivers!

03:02I, like A, if you did, I think it would be okay.

03:07I know we've talked a bit before about like, we love the personality.

03:10He shut down the Oilers, an Oilers fan chimed in on the, that might have been on the Game

03:15Over YouTube channel, where someone came in on the comments section and talked about him.

03:19But either way, like the thought of losing Jacob Pelletier is whatever.

03:24But Cooley, I would be, I don't think I'd be too heartbroken.

03:28I think, A, I think you can pass him on waivers and I think he'd be fine.

03:31We did this with Yanni Orteo a few years ago.

03:33I think it'll be okay.

03:34And if it's not, all due respect to Cooley, there's going to be another version of Cooley

03:39that pops up on the waiver wire at some point, or an undrafted free agent, or whatever.

03:43There is going to be that.

03:45You can find another version of that.

03:47So I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

03:49But yeah, very excited that we are getting closer and closer to the start of the NHL

03:53season.
