New witch shop opens in Blackpool just in time for the Halloween celebration celebrations.

A new witch shop has opened in Blackpool just in time for Halloween selling magic wands, crystals and many more spooky items for the scary season.

00:00So what was the inspiration behind starting this shop in Blackpool?

00:11We started on TikTok selling crystals around about two years ago and since then it became

00:18quite popular and it became too big of a beast of an operation to run from home so we started

00:24having to look for a shop that was suitable for us to run a business. It was quite a feat to find

00:31something suitable in Blackpool for us to actually run, find a business that was suitable for us to

00:40run from. A lot of the shops and spaces available weren't suitable for us so it did take some time

00:48but then luckily we found this lovely place on Lytton Road.

00:52What was your reaction when you found this place and thought this is what we need, this is

00:58perfect for the business? It sort of all fell into place all at once and it was perfect.

01:05The venue used to be an old gin bar and when we first walked in and it had been closed for quite

01:16a while but we could see through everything of the old bar aesthetic that was there and

01:23we could see that there was a possible turnaround to make it into what we wanted and

01:30we could envision the result that we wanted so that was good. It wasn't like some of the

01:36other places that we went to that were mainly just like white walls and shells and there was

01:44a lot of work that would have had to be done so we felt we fell on our feet along with this one

01:52and we're very lucky. Dark Therapy is crystal and witch's apothecary mainly so we sell crystal and

02:02witch's herbs, sage, incense and lots of different things for people to start themselves on their

02:09witchcraft journey. We also do lots of other quirky little bits and pieces along the way.

02:17We do things like clothing and homeware items and we're a little bit different than some of the

02:24shops that you might see around the place. We walk on the lighter side of witchcraft

02:31and we take it with a lot more fun, a lot more wholesome. I am a practicing witch

02:41but I take things with it's more as it's not like I'm there every day of like washing crystals in

02:51a river or doing something like that or making moon water and the things it's very much it is a

03:00way of life but it's more fun and I want to share my knowledge with other people so they can enjoy

03:11it as well. If you had to say anything about one or two sentences what exactly would this witchcraft

03:19be and entail? It's empowering yourself and getting to know yourself more, exploring

03:28what you can achieve and what you can do with your life and opening yourself up to new possibilities.

03:37We've all got a little magic inside of us which is one of the sayings that

03:43goes around and with the right tools you can always achieve the impossible.

03:50Brilliant, what has the response been since you've opened it on in terms of footfall through

03:57the door and on social media? So the first day when we opened which was a week ago today

04:05we only had one customer through the door and obviously that was like oh heartbreaking and

04:12we thought have we done the right thing but then the second day I made a post on

04:19the Blackpool community group online and the footfall was fantastic the people through the

04:24door have been it's been a great response we've had a great load of people coming through we've

04:32had people traveling as far as Manchester to come up to see us and yeah it's been

04:39really positive. What's been the most popular product or item that people have been coming in

04:44and buying? Our mini ghosts in little bell jars which are down the bottom of the bar just there

04:51those are the most popular thing at the moment as well as knee-high socks and magic wands.

05:04Do you think there's something about Blackpool that you talked about there's a couple of other

05:07businesses that are doing the same thing is there anything in particular about Blackpool that you

05:12think draws this type of business or there's a market for this these types of products? I think

05:17Blackpool is a very eclectic place so you have a lot of different people passing through and

05:26the tourism trade doesn't just end at the summer it carries on all the way through

05:31with the illuminations plus you've got things like the pub festival and other festivals going

05:38on which also attract a trade for people who are into this sort of thing and very open

05:44to a more eclectic lifestyle I would say yeah so I think that's why shops like this

05:51are needed and people are open to them now and I think that also with the boom of the TikTok

06:03market with witch talk and things coming in yeah people are also more open to it now as well

06:09yeah everywhere not just in Blackpool but from everywhere. Do you have a particular product

06:17that you're like a favorite product that you would recommend? My favorite products are all the

06:23crystals we've got quite a lot up at the back there there's a black and white crystal just up

06:30there a very tall one which is called Lothacorus point and it's a fossil fossilized sea creature

06:40which is over 4 000 years old. Right okay yeah so you just started here are you doing anything

06:50different for Halloween because obviously I think that was quite a good time and you opening the

06:55shop and then it we will be planning some Halloween activities they're not set in stone yet

07:02right we have an event on the 12th of October where we're going to be doing

07:09it's going to be in our like our official grand launch date right where people anyone who comes

07:16in and spends over five pounds will get a free crystal confetti scoop bag right which people

07:23have seen on TikTok. On Halloween I'm sure we'll be doing some dress-up competitions and things like

07:30yeah giving some prizes out for the kids right and we might have some local authors come in to do

07:37some readings and book signings as well yeah as just behind you we have BookTok these are authors

07:48from TikTok who sent their books to us and they're actually some of them are in America

07:54some of them are in Manchester and some of them are down in Leicester yeah but they've sent their

08:00books up here to be sold in the shop as well all based on the paranormal and they're sort of going

08:09to be doing some readings and signings and yeah hopefully and then we've got a space there as well

08:17which once that's all cleared we'll be doing sort of events of classes and different

08:26types of things there like I'll be running classes on how to make spell jars and working

08:33with a pendulum right we've got outside people coming in to do things like meditation workshops

08:41and other things right yeah so will people be able to find out about those from social

08:47media and stuff like that yes well everywhere is just dark therapy shop yeah perfect
