00:19We begin with the news.

00:20The 79th General Assembly of the United Nations will conclude its day of debates amid tensions

00:25due to armed conflicts and the challenges facing the planet.

00:27During this session, the main issues addressed have been peace and security, and the advancement

00:32of the Sustainable Development Goals for present and future generations.

00:36In spite of efforts of the international order, an increase of tensions and aggressions in

00:41the Middle East has been reported in the last days, together with escalations in conflicts

00:45in Ukraine, Sudan, Myanmar, and the intensification of violence in Haiti.

00:49In this context, the World Leaders' Meeting adopted a pact that projects a reform of world

00:53governance focused on the rescue of multilateralism to strengthen the Union and the principles

00:58of global politics.

01:04In this regard, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of

01:08Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, Bassan Sabbagh, referred to the international

01:12escalation in tensions and the threat they pose to peace and security worldwide.

01:18As this session of the General Assembly is taking place, tensions internationally have

01:23reached a boiling point, and efforts to maintain international peace and security are confronted

01:28with real challenges and threats.

01:30Clashes are intensifying, crises are multiplying, conflicts are escalating, chaos is spreading,

01:38terrorism is gaining ground, the global economy is faltering, poverty rates are rising, climate

01:45change is accelerating, and development indicators are lagging.

01:51These are the unfortunate results of eight decades of multilateral action that have followed

01:57the establishment of the United Nations.
