00:00People say I'm blind because I can't see the world the way others do. I was born blind so colors,

00:15shapes and light are just words to me. Abstract concepts that I can't quite grasp, people often

00:21try to explain them. Linking colors to feelings or objects. Green for trees, blue for the sky,

00:30red for passion. But what does green really mean? What does it feel like? I'll never truly know.

00:39Once I drew a tree I don't know why the people said it looked like a red push pop. So ever since

00:46I turned five I struggled to capture the true colors that people call off. Trees, bees, flowers

00:53and butterflies. Can I capture the world on canvas? I don't see it, but I hear it. I feel it. I listen

01:02to the way people describe the things around them. The emotions they attach to them. The stories they

01:09tell. People nowadays are so opinionated. They say my paintings make no sense. What exactly is

01:16sense? Perhaps they were puzzled by the figures I've created. The strange landscapes. I know they

01:23often admired my work more because of my blindness than for the art itself. I suppose they saw it as

01:29a novelty, a curiosity. But for me it was never about what others saw. It was about expressing

01:36the world as I understood it in my own way. When I turned 35 I decided to create something bigger.

01:43Something that would embody everything I'd learned and felt over the years. I spent 15 years putting

01:49on canvas what sense meant to me. Pouring all my thoughts, all the conversations I'd overheard,

01:56all the stories from the news into it. I called it the silent world. With the descriptions I had

02:02about the world and its inhabitants. I created my masterpiece. I heard the sounds that the donkeys,

02:08dogs, cats, and humans made. Yet so strangely, humans called their noise a language. I hear the

02:15shallow sighs of the old oxes working in the fields and laughters of the donkeys reading

02:21newspapers. There's a lake I visit with a forest next to it. The cool breeze from the smoldered

02:27grass is quickly vanished by the scorching heat in the trees. I like how the trees smell, like my

02:33grandma's fireplace. To the left there's a city or what's left of one. Buildings crumbled and covered

02:40in sand. I've heard so many stories about war, about bombs and destruction, that I couldn't

02:46imagine the world without it. So I painted that too. But people called it ruins. And then there's

02:53the ocean as blue as the sky, pacifying the beach with violent waves. I've always heard the sea. It

03:00speaks of suffocation. I tried to put my experiences on one canvas. Among those was a field where I

03:06heard the whistling of the youth, thunder of infancy, and cracking of the old knuckles. Every

03:12day I hear the old ox sighing, the calf in merrymaking. When I finished the painting, I didn't

03:19know how the world would react. To me it was just my vision, my interpretation of everything I'd heard

03:25over the years. But when it was finally shown to the public, something incredible happened. People

03:31didn't just see it as the work of a blind man. They saw it for what it was, a reflection of their own

03:38world, twisted and seen through a different lens. The painting was sold for more money than I could

03:45have ever imagined. But that wasn't what mattered. What mattered was that I'd finally shared my world

03:51with others, a world I'd only heard but never seen. I remember the day my painting was unveiled.

03:57Standing on a bridge, I smiled, feeling the sun's warmth. Below, I imagined people engrossed in their

04:05phones, perhaps missing the world around them. I realized that in a way, we're all blind, seeing

04:12the world through our limited perspectives. I felt at peace, no longer alone in my darkness,

04:18knowing others were seeking to see in their own way. Around me, I sense souls, trapped behind the

04:24lenses they call sight. I wonder if my vision, forged in darkness, has touched any of them,

04:30if they've glimpsed the world beyond their narrow frames.
