00:00The real twist of Trap is in a secret pun. In M. Night Shyamalan's new movie, Josh Hartnett
00:05plays a serial killer known as The Butcher, who takes his daughter to a Lady Raven show,
00:10only to discover that the entire event is part of a police ploy to snare him. In addition to
00:15the objectively ridiculous plotline, the movie does feature some overtly comic scenes, including
00:19a brief tension-cutting moment in which Kid Cudi's flamboyant rapper character, The Thinker,
00:24pauses to make eyes at Hartnett's beefy girl dad. And since its release, Trap has spawned a number
00:29of social media memes, many of which feature Jamie the overly helpful merch guy. But the movie's
00:34biggest goof might be in its casting. The role of Dr. Josephine Grant, the FBI profiler in charge
00:39of taking down The Butcher, is played by Hayley Mills, the former child star who appeared in
00:4460s Disney classics like Pollyanna and The Parent Trap. As a lot of critics pointed out when Trap
00:49first came out, it sure seems like Shyamalan cast Mills purely to make one big dad joke. After all,
00:54Mills was famously in The Parent Trap, and this movie calls for her to literally trap a parent.
