08:06The Council must extend active support to the African countries and the African Union
08:15to defeat terrorism and foreign intervention.
08:19UN peacekeeping must become more robust and effective.
08:25The Council should initiate confidence-building measures to prevent a war between the major powers
08:33and ease the rising tension, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
08:40Healthy competition between governments is very healthy and good,
08:46but must not take the shape of ugly confrontation.
08:51The Council must declare zero tolerance for the illegal use of force
08:57and revive global efforts to halt and reverse the new arms race in nuclear and conventional weapons.
09:06It must build controls over new weapons and technologies,
09:11including artificial intelligence that are making war more likely and more lethal.
09:19Madam President, in cooperation with other Member States,
09:24Pakistan shall pursue these objectives in the Security Council
09:30when it assumes its seat in the Council next year.
