When should Christmas start?

We ask the people of Cardiff whether Christmas should start now, or whether we should at least wait for halloween to be over.

00:00So, I think it should be, if we're going to have all these occasions, I mean, Halloween,

00:09we never, when I was a child, we never had, we had what, I come from the north of England,

00:14so, we had duck apples, but we didn't have all these scary costumes, yeah, so I don't

00:19understand, it's all Americanism.

00:22First of December, in my view, it's not even Halloween yet and they're already showing

00:30Christmas decorations and things, I think Halloween should come first and then Christmas.

00:35It is a bit early for me, my birthday's in November, so I don't usually do anything

00:40this afternoon.

00:41Because Halloween's quite popular now compared to the past, but I think Christmas is just

00:47spoilt now, because, you know, it's that four months of Christmas, where before it

00:53was a week or a month, so that would be my view anyway.

00:58I do, I take it as it comes.

01:01My daughter's birthday's in December, the middle of December, and I never used to do

01:07anything until after her birthday, because she never had a birthday, because people would

01:12say, oh I'm not buying you much for your birthday, I'll buy it for Christmas, and they never

01:15did.

01:17So while some people think you should make sure to get everything else, like Halloween

01:21and family birthdays, out of the way first, plenty think that it's worth shopping now,

01:25whether to grab a bargain or get ahead and be prepared.

01:29Well, I think it's a little early, yeah, but you can do some regular shopping, but

01:37can plan, if you are moving around, you find something interesting, you can definitely

01:42buy.

01:43Take your checklist, and then you can start buying.

01:46Yeah, of course, stores put more stuff, and make it more expensive, like right around

01:56Christmas time.
