Over a year since protests rocked the South Asia country of Sri Lanka, the nation has voted in a new leader in an effort to recover from its worst economic crisis and resulting political upheaval.

00:00Anura Kumara Desayanaka has been sworn in as Sri Lanka's 10th president. The 55-year-old
00:07ran as the head of the Marxist-leaning National People's Power Coalition at Saturday's election.
00:13Desanayaka garnered 42.31 percent of the votes and defeated 37 other candidates. His win
00:20comes almost a year after intense rioting gripped the capital due to growing economic
00:26turmoil. Desanayaka now has to guide Colombo through enduring financial woes and political upheaval.
