His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, met with the Malaysian diaspora in China on Saturday (Sept 21).

Over 300 Malaysians, including business people, students and embassy members, attended the reception.

00:20At the same event, the King also consented the renaming of the Malay Studies Chair of
00:25the Beijing Foreign Studies University to the Sultan Ibrahim Chair of Malay Studies
00:30in a ceremony.
00:31The chair overseen by the Higher Education Ministry was established in 2007 to recognize
00:37the university's commitment to the promotion of the Malay language in China.
00:43The King is in China for a four-day state visit from September 19 to 22.
00:49He met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Cheng on Friday.
00:53The King's state visit underscores the strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and China,
00:59which have grown significantly since being elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership
